  1. I thought Kerry Strong is in the running for HC at Allen.
  2. I believe they were down one, time is expiring, so let's jack up a 3 from the corner with some time still on the clock. Shot missed, of course, goes out of bounds off of Tech. Texas gets the ball back and fortunately the Texas guard drives the lane and thankfully is fouled with 1.8 seconds left. Seals the win with 2 free throws. It does not have to be like that.
  3. Watching Texas play is frustrating. So much talent...such poor coaching.
  4. Thanks for the breakdown. I knew that both Hallsville and TH were strong in baseball and that most likely neither one dominated the other but did not have the stats to support the thought. Hallsville has been good since the early-to-mid 80’s.
  5. “Bold” as in “bold text” not “bold” as in a grandiose statement.
  6. That is right. Hallsville has made it to State a few years ago. But have they (TH) "ruled" the district yearly?
  7. Mavchamp, I tried to find some records for the last 15 years or so but I have not been successful in my research. Perhaps Mavgrad may have some but I question the bolded statement above. Hallsville is annually strong in baseball. It is definitely one and two for baseball between TX High and Hallsville but I am not sure which one is on top. Marshall I would think would be a far distant third at best.
  8. The local TV station ran a story on this last night. Though they showed both sides of the story it was still probably 60/40 to 70/30 slanted toward the ones that wanted it removed. To the casual observer, who fails to do critical thinking or any thinking at all, I can see how the opinion is formed to have it removed. As an alum I receive calls throughout the year from current students asking me for donations to the school above what I already give. I am going to start my own poll on what they think of the song as that will be my leading comment after they ask me for more money.
  9. Who is to say who is an “up and comer”? How can you project future success? Hallsville got rid of Plunk because he was a .500 coach because the Board Members thought that Hallsville had better athletes than what were walking the halls. Hallsville then hired a State Championship coach who failed miserably once he sat foot in Hallsville. He is now gone and Hallsville just went winless with his replacement. At least Plunk made “use” with the football athletes he had at his disposal while at Hallsville. Perhaps Atlanta will have better athletes for football per capita than what Hallsville had and Plunk may see success. Who knows? Also, if memory serves me correctly Plunk was listed as Assistant Head Coach at Ryan. Not saying that Plunk will be a success but hiring someone that is labeled as an “up in comer” has its risks too just as projecting why someone who did not have total success at their previous stops as the head honcho.
  10. Hookemhorns88. Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
  11. The 400 is my favorite event. My son ran the 100 and the 200 and was the anchor leg for the relays while he was in high school. I tried to talk him into running the 400 as his stride was really long and he was suited for it. He felt he was contributing enough already!
  12. You knew the 2 bigger dudes were in trouble when the smaller 2 conversed on who was going to take who. The smaller guys used leverage and appears to have some wrestling experience. The bigger guys made a horrible mistake on who they chose to instigate (at least from this perspective).
  13. Back to standard Shaka ball. Cross the half court line and jack up a three. That is their offensive identity if you want to call it that.
  14. Like most other D1 schools, there most likely will be transfers.
  15. Maybe my view is a bit simplistic regarding the "Roid Era" but if everyone was doing it then the "roid" advantage would be canceled out. Some qualifications to get in should be against the standards of the time and not some bygone era.
  16. And the TCU fumble. I was really hoping that he would have a stellar career at Texas and rep ET well.
  17. You don't say? Have you tried @3%$2&* yet?
  18. Not my current favorite rendition of the uniform but as long as they stay away from black/gray or introducing some type of alternative uniform I am OK. Fortunately Texas has been able to stay away from going with some non-primary school colors. Hope it stays that way albeit at times the burnt-orange color is hard to match.
  19. I considered the physics of the collisions of the NFL players. It goes both ways, the players are bigger and faster on both sides of the ball so that seems to somewhat cancel each other out. Plus many injuries are independent of the size of the players. To argue the mass point for high school players it would seem that the probability would be higher for injuries occurring in high school versus the NFL. In high school you have potential college level players playing against kids that will never play another down outside of HS. In HS you have underclassmen playing against upperclassmen. A huge amount of growth typically takes place between your freshman and senior years as teens hit growth spurts at different times. In the NFL the players have all matured.
  20. After watching the Texas High School Playoff Games on TV I began to wonder what the player injury rate was in high school versus the NFL. Just in observation and with no further research, it seemed that the stoppage for injuries in the multiple high school games were far less than that in the NFL and possibly even college. is it because there are actually less injuries or do the younger kids just play through it since millions of dollars are not hinging on their health to make a living? For clarification I am using the term "health to make a living" in respect to an injury that is not life altering. Or am i just imaging the injury difference?
  21. My family on my father's side are "country". All of my uncles and great-uncles played some sort of instrument from a saw, spoons, fiddle, banjo, guitar, jug, you name it and the played it. Two of my uncles did a great "Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me" skit.
