  1. Chapel Hill kicked your BUTT!

CH is a good team, no doubt about it.

Hopefully Hallsville will have some players back from injury. If not, then Hallsville will make do with what they have. The "backups" played will enough last week against a tough JT team. With a game under their belts I would think that they would be more comfortable in playing time.

I do not know much about WH other than they have an outstanding receiver that has commited to OU. It is usually a decent match up between HV and WH and I see no different this year. With or without the injuries I look for HV to come out ready to play.

  2. Tone of the game was set on the initial possession of the game when Texas was moving the ball well and then elected to run the ball; all momentum was then lost leading to a punt.

Texas' defense has been on the field way too much.

Poor execution is the key to this loss. Penalties, fielding a punt inside the 10, not getting past the first down marker on routes, etc.

I figured for a loss against someone that Texas should beat but not this game.

  3. Thanks to all our Smoaky friends for the prayers...Jake's head hit the ground on one of his carries and resulted in a major concussion...he was taken to Mexia where a ct scan was done and then taken on to Waco...neurologists cleared him to go home about 1am this morning and he will probably miss two weeks...he woke up this morning without a headache which is extremely unusual for the severity of his concussion (he was out cold for about 3-6 minutes!!! Glory and praise to God for his protection and quick recovery!! God bless!

Great news about the QB. Prayer works. God loves and protects.

  4. did lacey or cochran come back? Hallsville may be playin their whole jv if we lose couple more kids...

Lacy came back after getting his bell rung pretty good. Cochran did not come back. He stayed on the sideline but I did not see him getting any medical treatment. He wasn't the same after being involved with the tackle on the int return. Josh Brown made a cameo appearance on a KO return.

Our JV is ailing a bit as well. The QB missed the last game as did one of our running backs.

HV halftime show beat JT's halftime show!

  5. JT looks good. They swarm to the ball on defense with their speed. Their offense is very quick and is tough to get a handle on as their ball carriers are very elusive. What can I say about them other than they are legit. Looking at how the balance of the district is performing they just might go undefeated.

As for Hallsville...we need to get well. The guys that assumed starting positions this week performed well. Taylor ran the ball good tonight between the tackles; did not quite have the speed to hit the corner against JT since the JT was so athletic. The passing game was about what I expected. As an offense I think we struggled with what we wanted to do off and on during the game. On defense we need to make the tackle the first time that we get our hands on the ball carrier.

We had a couple of more get dinged up and did not play much in the second half but from the looks I do not think they were serious (at least I hope not). Fortunately there are more games to play. The Cats will regroup and will be OK.

  6. what was the  score with the JV and freshman?

JT fresh won by about 18 or so over HV.

JT JV won by 12 over HV JV.

Not sure how many sophs JT have on varsity but HV has 5 or 6. HV played without their starting QB and a RB/DB on JV. I am really pleased with the way that the JV for HV has played this year.
