  1. Just getting back to my daughter’s after the game.

    Found my alumni brick.

it was also my granddaughter’s first home UT game. She is just over 3 years old. She was in awe of the entire experience. She has been to a couple of away games against WVU.

Some quick observations. Ewers is not seeing the whole field. Missed two easy scores with guys open in the EZ. Making his mind up way too quick and is forcing the ball. Receivers dropped a few. Took too long to get Whit involved in the game. Bijan did not get enough carries on outside plays. Ewers not doing the short game. Sark still trying with too many home run balls. Should dink and dunk more.

Ok, I will give the sign content an “A” but an “F” for timing and context. As much as us Texas fans moan and complain about other schools doing the “Horns” down sign even when we are not playing the other schools, to me, this falls under the same category.

  3. I will be at the TCU game in Austin.  Hopefully I will not leave disappointed.  Game Day will be there, night game, cool/cold weather.

Will finally get to see the brick with my name on it in the pathway at the Alumni Center that my kids bought for me for Christmas last year.

    Go Horns!!

  4. The slide rule for QB's needs to be aborted or drastically revised.  QB's wait until the last moment to make the slide, and in most cases, after the defensive player has already committed their body to making a tackle.  This slide manuever only leaves the head and shoulders the point of contact.  There needs to be a virtual fence around the QB.  If the defender is inside of the fence at the time of the slide or if the defender has already commited then all bets are off.

And for those Baylor Bear Fans--something to remember last night.....

WVU sings this after a home win.  Unfortunately I heard it live last year after WVU beat the Horns.  Though I hated to hear it due to a UT loss it was pretty cool to hear everyone sing it in the stadium.

Bryce Young plays and it’s probably closer to the -24 point line than what it wound up being. If Ewers played the whole Bama game it’s a completely different game. We can only go by what we saw last night with who played. Milroe made mistakes but Bama still did enough to win. I didn’t think Milroe was THAT bad. :woot:

Going into the game you didn’t think that Milroe was that bad of a QB or you didn’t think he played that bad in the game?

  7. I watched the Baylor/Okie State game and most of the TCU game. They are all legit teams with speed at the WR positions. Texas’ secondary is going to have to improve a bit along with a serious pass rush to help the DBs and LBs.

Hopefully having Ewers back will help but Texas is still going to have to play their best football each week to have a shot at a win.

Second half wasn’t pretty, but got the W.  DC needs to figure out that when their opponent is in obvious passing situations it’s perfectly legal and acceptable to jam WRs at the line of scrimmage and send pressure.  I get sick of 3rd and 8’s being converted with 7-8 in zone coverage (2-3 being 12-15 yds past the sticks).  It’s the same old crap.  Offensive playcalling was a bit better and aggressive in the second half, but the execution was poor.  The defense needs to be fixed quickly.  Beating West Virginia isn’t nothing to boast about.  They’ll be lucky to finish 5-7.  28 pts in the first half and 10 in the second.  That still doesn’t scream they know how to put a team away.

WVU was aided in the second half with 2 questionable penalties that extended drives; the flop by the WVU receiver and the roughing the passer call.

The offensive playcalling was fine in the second half but execution was off.  Card missed a wide-open RoJo that hampered the drive.  Another failing was an early possession in the second half that called back a nice reception due to a hold and a subsequent blocking in the back.  I have not looked at the replay but it was close to being inside of the tackle box.

Hoping the delay means they are working on overturning it. This is the first year the Big 12 is doing these appeals, so I'm not sure what the timeframe is.

From my understanding the ruling is deferred to the NCAA and not the conference.  I expect a ruling by at least halftime of the Tech game.

    Man, Card stinks!!!

I think this also answers some questions about how some of the press is with Texas. The other press story was that RoJo had an injury that was going to lead him to possibly missing some games. He looked perfectly fine last night.
