If I am Marshall I would go tempo most of the game…keep Longview from subbing as much as possible…LVs defense is going to be too strong otherwise. Longview should win by several scores if we get it together…

This O-line is a mystery to me. They looked really solid in the spring and seemed to be a strong suit prior to the Thigh scrimmage. If they settle in and come together, Longview is going to be tough out.

Love the confidence. McKinney is a solid team and will prove it throughout the season. Longview gift wrapped 14 of their 23 points. That won't happen very often so soak it in while you can I guess.

Last night was best thing that could have happened….level sets expectations…team has a lot to work on…defense will take us a long way but offense has to come along

I don't expect you guys to sleep on Legacy's QB. He is actually pretty solid for a high school QB. If you give him time, he definitely has the tools to make you pay. However, their big offense line had problem with team speed on the d-line. They can't block. Lufkin is going to make them miserable. I know Lufkin's offense is going to get theirs. Lufkin wins.

What I am seeing from most people. Most likely how it will play out. I just have this feeling if we get rolling with the run early, McKinney won't keep up in the heat.

Its going to be an interesting game. Tyler has more athletes and overall team speed. When you put that in a system, the Lions have historically been good. Marshall will have to play consistent and disciplined ball to win. I do think they will.

We actually agree. I don’t think Marshall will have to throw more than 8-10 times against Tyler for them to win. If they do that is not good. But the Marshall QBs have to 50% or better on those 8-10. I have followed Jack Alvarez teams for a long time. Followed him closely and attended many games when he went to back to back state finals with Kirbyville. Saying all that, he won’t throw that much if he doesn’t have to. But he puts it in his offensive plan in a way that is more than just trying to keep a defense honest. He makes you consistently have to play both.

Exactly. Do what you want, when you want...build it how you like.... Honestly looks like Lancaster is built for one reason...to beat Longview.

Really think this game will come down to Longview QB and O-line play. If the QB can make consistent throws and the oline can give time for plays to develop Longview wins. McKinney is going to throw all kinds of talent at us. LV defense should be up to the task. My thought for this game is to keep it simple and consistent on offense and hold onto the ball. Back to this game...I think this game is going to go back and forth. Tyler looks to be improved and less mistake prone that last year. Easy to see that new coach is already having a positive impact. I think Marshall wins if they can complete some passes consistently and not turn it over. I don't think they can go score for score with Tyler. We will see. Marshall 34 Tyler 28

Longview has 4 school districts within its city limits (maybe 1 more???). Of those 4, three have high schools built.

Marshall had a fumble return for a TD and a long TD pass. Maybe it was just 2 for Marshall.

My thoughts overall... I thought Marshall looked good. Had the better O-line and better D-line. Marshall's d-line was quick off the ball. I did notice they got a little warn down later in the live portion. Marshall was pretty susceptible to the pass. Saw Marshall in the Winged T (two and single back), Shot gun w/wo H-back, Pistol w/wo H-Back. Marshall's running game was spot on. Slone's short passing game was good as long as the WRs caught the ball. He did have one good deep ball. Otherwise the deep balls were pretty bad from both Marshall QBs - telegraphed the throws and routinely threw into double coverage or with safety over the top. I counted 3 TOs. Legacy had a couple of good runs. I really liked their QB (think he transferred in). When they adjusted and he got the ball out of his hands early, they scored twice. Mavchamp correct me if I am wrong, I think it was Mavs 3 and TL 2 overall. I think Marshall is going to give people lots of problems if they can keep the turnovers to a minimum.

Definitely a good showing for both teams defensively. TH is going to be pretty solid.

Brock will be much improved since last year. As long as PG stays focused and plays there game they should win by 14+.

If Alvarez has the Marshall O and D lines playing to his standards, I honestly think this game will be similar to last year. While TH will take a step forward this year with the new coach, I think Marshall will be better. Going to be fun to watch.
