  1. ITs amazing how far the sports dept. at KTRE , the talent, and the quality, has declined in a short period of time.. The current guy is hard to watch and all over the place..

    KTRE

Has anyone heard anything regarding KTRE's future in the Lufkin/Nac area? I heard rumors they will be no longer soon..

  4. Just received a phone call asking me if Donnie Watson was fired as SFA's baseball coach. Not sure, but there was suppose to be a mtg. with Robert Hill regarding the baseball program's progress and the coach's evaluations. So, I am unsure.. If it did happen, I sure hope the reasons are legit!!!!
  5. How about starting a website called: FIRE-ROBERT-HILL.COM That should rally the troops quicker than the president's plan which seems to be an individual ousting themselves slowly by a poor performance and inability to fundraise and maintain a stable D-I program.
  6. I've noticed a growing number of college football coaches pulling schollie offers from kids who committed early.. It's not smart, especially if you are on the I-AA (FCS) level like SFA. Check out this story.. Not good when you ###### off a respected member of the Texas HS Coaches Association. http://www.coveleaderpress.com/index.php?o...29&Itemid=1
  7. Who are the names outside of the former Tyler Lee boys, Ross, from junior college which have signed with SFA, and high school prospects in East Texas or surrounding area who are commited and/or have an interest in the football program?
  8. I'm not sure what to believe, but I've managed to receive more phone calls and emails regarding the football coaching staff at SFA from friends, alums, and former SFA coaches who I'm friends, and some folks who actually work inside SFA. Being an alum, I contacted a few people, but NO INFO except this, which I believe are rumors, but there maybe some truth to some. I've been told that there is a "SILENCE" mandated by everyone in the SFA athletic dept. regarding the baseball fundraising project which is quickly approaching the end of the year deadline.. The other issue I keep hearing about is the offensive and defensive coordinators either resigning or being fired by head coach JC Harper.. Also, an asst. coach or two have been mentioned as leaving.. So, now I'm actually interested in finding out what's really going on.. I did find out that Brad Laird, who was on Harper's staff this past season, was hired at Northwestern State earlier this week.. So, that maybe the only coach involved. Anyone know anything else?
  9. I am the bearer of tragic news regarding an Oklahoma Sooner commit. We learned about the unfortunate death of Spring Westfield defensive back Herman Mitchell right before news time at FOX 25 in Oklahoma City. We confirmed this death with the help of Houston ABC affiliate KTRK. Spring I.S.D.'s AD confirmed that Mitchell was killed before he was about to head to his hs to get ready for a late afternoon scrimmage. I realize that Mitchell has no ties to East Texas, but as a former East Texas journalist, media member I realize how this hits at home due to the great following of high school sports. Regardless of the situation and the reported fight in a NW Harris County apartment parking lot, guns were used in retalliaton and a young, promising life is over.
  10. A lot of firsts with SFA baseball this season in their 2nd season back.. A 30-win season and they took 2 of 3 from rival Sam Houston. That's 5-wins in 6-games against the Bearkats. Best of all, the Lumberjacks will be the 6th seed in the 6-team Southland Conference Tournament. One week from today, we may be discussing the 'Jacks heading to an NCAA Baseball Regional Tournament.
  11. SFA has done an amazing job this season.. Two out of three from Sam Houston would assure the 'Jacks and SLC Tourney berth.. The problem with the SFA program is the stalling with the construction of the state-of-the-art baseball/softball stadium complex.. They need $1-million more dollars to begin construction of the $14-million stadium. Not a lot of progress. The big money alums need to step up and I believe the SFA athletic dept. needs an improved marketing plan that is more aggressive.
  12. I FINALLY know where I will be headed... I have accepted the #3 position with the KOKH FOX 25 sports team in Oklahoma City.. Once again, thanks for everyone's support during my 7-years in East Texas at KTRE. Keep in touch.. I will begin in OKC tenatively around January 22nd..
  13. Hey this is Shawn Clynch from KTRE-TV. I wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of you who I have met throughout my 7-years in East Texas. My contract was not re-newed as sports director at KTRE. I will spare you the details. My last day was today New Year's Eve. I will be moving on with my career in either my hometown Austin or Oklahoma City. My main reason for posting on here was to make sure everyone knew how appreciative I am for the friendships and the support throughout my time here. Keep in touch. Shawn Clynch
