  1. Maybe Double D's will curb some of violence in Tyler. Most men would rather look at a bare boob than fight.
  2. Kenneth Crone, who grew up and attended Tyler Schools died yesterday at the age of 70. The movie Sugarland Express was based on Kenneth being taken hostage while a DPS patrolman in Winnie, Texas.
  3. How could you forget Kenny Morris of Whitehouse ??
  4. Baseball, definately baseball. From little league to the majors. However, I have definately become a volleyball fan. No other sport requires such teamwork to be successful. When any team has the necessary teamwork, it is a pleasure to watch.
  5. Geez, I wish you guys would quit ragging on Romo. He is one of the top 25 quarterbacks in the league and is averaging close to six yards a completion. Most "bright" people know that the bill of the cap faces the front.
  6. .I can't believe that I stayed up that late to learn that all the games ended 0 to 0.
  7. Swimming and airplane piloting would be a tie.  When you stop you die !!!
  8. Was he the last baseball coach at JT to have a winning record ?
  9. The problem last night was not Lee. It was Arias. He should have caught the pop up double and he should not have stayed back on the grounder and then try for a double play. He made a bonehead play and you just can't win like that. The Rangers have to get Kinsler back in the lineup I predict that last night was the last Ranger appearance of his career for Arias.
  10. A&M handed Cole Green his first defeat this afternoon 9-3. The Greene kid went 4 for 5 with another stolen base.
  11. Does anyone know why the Rangers are not on Suddenlink in Tyler ???
  12. There was an article in the Tyler paper today about Brookhill winning the regional golf tournament held in Carrollton. Who were the winners of the tournaments held in the Tyler area ? I know nothing about the newspaper business, but it appears that the Tyler Morning Telegraph simply does not allot enough space for the sports department. I have a great deal of respect for Phil Hicks and his sports staff and believe that space to print adequate coverage is being denied them. Four pages to cover pro, college, and high school sports is simply not enough.
  13. I read in today's Dallas Morning News that the Brookhill baseball team defeated Garland Christian 13-2 yesterday. Why did I have to buy a Dallas newspaper to get this information ? On a side note, I tried to get a tee time at the following courses yesterday: Oak Hurst(Bullard), Pine Springs(Tyler), Pine Dunes(Frankston), and Echo Creek (Brownsboro). All of these courses were closed because they were hosting district golf tournaments. No results of any of these tournaments were in any of the four sports pages in the Tyler newspaper.
  14. About 4 years ago, I went to a local dermatologist with a severe case of athlete's foot. This particular doctor was even older than I was. He gave me the most painful shots in the underside of my toes I have ever had. Thought I was going to come off the examination table. He then told me to either go barefoot or wear sandals. He said that If I would do this, I would not only have no recurrence of the foot problem, I would not have the flu or even a cold. I now wear sandals all the time except when the weather is just too cold and have not had any ailment of any kind since then.
  15. I read in today's Dallas Morning News that former Robert E. Lee girls basketball coach, Cindi Harvey was named their Coach of the Year. She coached Mansfield High School to the 4A State Championship. In addition to coaching at Tyler Lee, she also coached the Utah Starzz and the San Antonio Stars of the WNBA.
  16. The new AD has already made a difference in Bullard. He was at all of the basketball games at the end of the season, on the floor shaking the players (girls and boys) hands, and patting them on the back. He even made a pre-game appearance in the dressing room. I heard that he made a couple of the baseball games at the Ft. Worth tournament. His support of the athletes participating in other sports is unheard of in Bullard. His attitude is appreciated by the players, parents, and fans. He is like a breath of fresh air.
  17. Pleasant Grove freshman Michael Wacha got his first start for A&M last night. He threw 6 innings giving up 0 runs, 3 hits, 0 walks while striking out 11. He lowered his ERA to 0.46 as A&M defeated Penn State 17-3. Bullard's Brody Green went 2 for 4, stole his fifth, base, scored 4 runs and and raised his average to .457. The east texas aggies are doing well.
  18. As long as Kay Bailey keeps calling my house, she will never get my vote. If you want me to vote aganist you, just call me.
  19. Bullard's Brody Greene's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning broke open a tie game and Texarkana's John Stinson threw four perfect innings of relief, as the Aggies downed Seton Hall 6-3 to finish off a doubleheader sweep. Stinson retired all 12 batters he faced. Greene went 2 for 4, scored twice and had 1 RBI and 1 stolen base. He had 1 assist from his center field position. Greene ended the first three games of the season batting .727 (8 hits-two of which were triples, 7 Runs scored, 6 RBI's, and 3 stolen bases). Not a bad way to start the season.
  20. Bullard's Brody Greene stayed hot as the Aggies won today's 2:05 game over Seton Hall 13-6. Greene went 3 for 3 with a sacrifice fly and two stolen bases. He was also hit by a pitch, scored 3 runs and made a diving catch in center field. Two of the three hits were triples Pleasant Grove freshman Michael Wacha pitched the last 2 1/3 innings, striking out 3 in his first college outing.
  21. Koby Greene's big brother, Brody went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's to lead A&M over Seton Hall in the season opener last night. He also scored from first base on a bloop single to short right field. A doubleheader is scheduled for this afternoon. It was the Aggies 10th straight opening day win.
  22. Lance had nine 3 pointers. Brody is now known as Koby's big brother.
