  1. If you don't lose 47-0, it'll make that goal a lot easier. ;) haha
  2. Fixed. Was 34-7 going into the 4th. But I agree. Every game for them, once they get to district play, could get ugly if they don't improve.
  3. Longview JV 24 Tyler Lee JV 14

  5. Awesome quote by King from the News-Journal.. 100% aagree. BTW, Allen hung on to beat Monterrey Tech from Mexico tonight 35-21. Am guessing the storms (there was a delay for a while in the game) and the loss from last week affected the Eagles.
  6. Hallsville is inbetween Marshall and Longview. They're not going to put one team in a district, and they put both schools on either side of it (both less than 10 minutes away) in another district. And they won't split up two schools in the same city into 2 different districts. If it were the 13 teams you post there...the only logical thing I could think of, instead of going North District and South District would be to the East side and the West side. Maybe do a... District A.. 1) Paris 2) Sulphur Springs 3) Mount Pleasant 4) John Tyler 5) Whitehouse 6) Jacksonville District B.. 1) Longview 2) Pine Tree 3) Texas High 4) Marshall 5) Hallsville 6) Kilgore 7) Nacogdoches If you wanted to stay with the North/South type of district alignment, then they could do... District A.. 1) Paris 2) Sulphur Springs 3) Mount Pleasant 4) Texas High 5) Marshall 6) Hallsville District B.. 1) Longview 2) Pine Tree 3) Kilgore 4) John Tyler 5) Whitehouse 6) Jacksonville 7) Nacogdoches Those are the only two logical districts theories that I can think of when it comes to those 13 teams you posted. I can't see them splitting up Longview and Pine Tree. But if they were to, I think they would send Longview to be the 7th team (if a north/south alignment was used) in District "A" with the Hallsvilles and Marshalls.
  7. What would happen with Texas High and Mount Pleasant then?
  8. We are more of rivals than one would think with just one game against each other since the late 80s. Obviously it has to do with the cross town part...as well as Longview and Pine Tree being rivalries in almost every other sports outside of football.
  9. Lindale by 19 (Don't ask how me how, but I'm stickin with it).
  10. Great great post! Jacksonville is obviously not the team they were last season and look to be one of the favorites in 14-4A to bring home their district crown. No reason to get upset about losing to them (now last season, I could understand). Marshall will be fine.
  11. I was just answering the passing game argument that people continue to bring up when talking about Longview and didn't really care to address the other questions you had. ;) Longview has every single chance to work on the passing game in a real game next week against Natchitoches Central. If you lose to a team that's won a combined 7 games in 5 years just by working on your passing game, then something is wrong anyways. But I don't see how one game, working on it a lot is going to help that much. That's what scrimmages are for and practices. This entire non-district slate is just for the purpose of getting ready for the upcoming district season and playoff run. In the end, that's all that really matters. You might start 0-5 but then go onto win your district and all 6 playoff games and boom. Sure you might an 11-5 record but you won State and that's all that matters. Longview has continuously scheduled tough teams during non-district just so that they can prepare us for the playoff run. Whether it's the passing game, running game, blocking, etc. etc. Non-district games don't matter a bit in the end except to get ready for the real season and bragging rights.
  12. It definitely could get some improvements. But maybe it's just cause we rarely get to play at a stadium like that. Definitely likes those type of stadiums more so than the new and "improved" ones. Much rather have a great atmosphere than a big huge stadium with empty seats.
  13. On the passing game topic, Aaron was still 7 for 14 for 111 yards. We've had 100 yard passing games the past 4 games we've played (including 278 against Guyer). If we can keep the passing yards around 100 every game, plus get the amount of yards we usually get on the ground, I'll feel pretty good about our offense. But the passing game argument is so overrated IMO (not coming down on you, just saying). Either way, Longview will get a perfect chance to work on that next week against Natchitoches Central (a team that's won 7 games over the past 5 seasons).
  14. You forgot turnovers. This team is definitely capable of "running the tables" but is also definitely beatable (especially when it comes to getting beat by themselves). One week at a time. Is fun to get excited about the thought, but we've only played one game...a game that saw two completely different sides of the team. Long long long way to go.
  15. God I hope not. Especially if JT is falling to 4A. Not only would the fun rivalries be gone, but the travel. Good Lord. I don't even want to think about how bad the travel would be if Longview was put in a position where they would either have to travel to Houston to play in Lufkin's district or in a district with Tyler Lee only plus the MISD schools/Desoto. Gag nasty. Stay 4A please.
  16. 100% agree. Am hoping the Lobos will be able to return their next season. Was a great time.
  17. There's not a lot of it. Nice place to see a game though.
  18. There was discussion of that, but I don't think anything has been set in stone...and definitely won't be happening next alignment. They would probably use that like they used the 4 playoff system. Use it in 5A first before carrying it onto the rest of the classes.
  19. Even though we've defeated the Lions 9 straight times ;)
  20. Paris is hardly an underdog going into the game against PT.
  21. If the Lee defense holds Longview's offense to 13 points, I'll be completely shocked. Our offense is definitely nothing compared to what it was last season when Red Raider fans saw them in Week 1.
  22. Good: Secondary in the 2nd half. The punting. No quit mentality. Bad: Rarely was able to pressure the QB (most of that had to do with the O Line of Allen though). Fumblitis.
