I think the media is doing most of the hyping...kind of like they do with the Cowboys every year. I'd rather take the win, move up in the polls, and do without all the media attention.

I'm surprised that it is going to be an area tournament. I know last year, I was hearing it was going to be 4 bi district matches and opponents just agreed on a nuetral site or flipped for home court. Then the 4 winners would meet on a Saturday and play the final two matches. I'm stunned that they are actually going to let the kids miss even more school.

I don't think I'd care for it. Having two teams from Districts 11 and 12 being 2 of the top 8 teams of the regional tournament is laughable. Do you think these would have been the regional tournament teams, if this rule change would have occured this year? You would potentially have Lucas Lovejoy, the number 12 team in the state, not even make regionals. Districts 9 and 10 Highland Park Frisco Centennial District 11 & 12 team District 11 & 12 team Districs 13 and 14 Texas High McKinney North Districts 15 and 16 Ennis Corsicana

Congrats to both teams, though I think the Hallsville tennis program needs to send the UIL a thank you note. Hallsville would have finished 6th in the other district. I kind of feel bad for Texas High and the lack of competition that they get from their district matches. I bet they get bored with it.

Need to make pep rallies that support all athlete groups. Have 2 fall pep rallies, recognizing ALL sports going on in the fall. Have 2 winter pep rallies, recognizing ALL winter sports. Have 2 spring pep rallies, recognizing ALL spring sports. .

Would be interesting to see how people would rank the top 20 tennis teams of East Texas(all classifications & east of Dallas/north of Lufkin). My guess below. 1. Texas High 2. Ennis 3. Rockwall 4. It seems like the LNJ and Tyler paper sure do a poor job of covering tennis in the paper. 14-4A just had their district tournament, and I don't see anything in the Tyler paper. All the LNJ had was a small article on Pine Tree players, on the 3rd page, under the advertisements in font 2(maybe a little exaggeration on the font). Very disappointed in these newspapers ignoring certain sports.

So...just leave the tournament director having to make scratches on 10 entries, with some of them possibly being seeded spots? Nice. Let's see how fast they can not be invited back to a tournament.

Other than the pitcher and catcher, you can throw baseball in this category as well. Not much exercise going on in baseball. I would bet a golfer playing 18 holes would burn more calories than most of the players on a baseball team.

Didn't answer my question :huh: ...but ok. I'm assuming you are talking about the Eastman Tournament. The Longview tournament is at the end of March.

What's up with Hallsville not showing up to tournaments?

Not so sure about Pine Tree and Hallsville. Pine Tree has no girls, other than the top girl. Boys are ok, at best. Hallsville has had a pretty good group of boys and a good girl, but graduation will hit them hard this year. With no middle school program, it will be hard to stay competitive. I don't know much about Sulphur Springs except they got a new coach this year. It will be competitive between those 3 teams, but I was just saying that those three teams would finish in the bottom half of 16-4A.

16-4A looks to be much deeper than 14-4A. 14-4A looks pretty weak, other than Texas High. Hallsville and Sulphur Springs should be all smiles considering they will still have a shot at 2nd in that district. They would probably be 5th and 6th in the other district. Corsicana, Lindale, and Whitehouse should be top 3 in their district.

With 4 teams making the playoffs, anything less than 8 in a district is a joke.
