  1. New Diana will hold a 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Sat Dec 19th starting at 3pm. Entry fee is $30 Must have a creative, tasteful team name Must have at least one female and one male on each team. Teams can have maximum 4 players. New Diana High School Gym and Auxiliary Gym ****All proceeds go to the Dee Lewis family**** Email Hunter Millican [email protected] or Justin Verzosa at [email protected] with your team name and team members. Go Eagles!!!!
  2. There is an 11 person committee that we'll receive 10 applicants to interview and select the final 2 canidates to present to the superintendent to select a finalist. The committee is made up of the 4 campus principles. They will select 1 member each from their campus. The athletic booster president and 2 at large community members. 1 member is a players father and the other is a mom of past players.
  3. Has anyone noticed that 3 teams from our District are in the regional semifinals. Our district is guaranteed a team in the Regional finals. This speaks volumes of the district competition we had this year. How can anyone expect a coach with a team loaded with sophmores and a freshman starting to compete at a high level against this competition? It could be potentially the same results next year no matter who the coach is due to bringing in a new system and potentially a new staff. This road runs two ways. There is good talent at ND but the parents need to watch the games and let the coaches coach the kids.
  4. If you define it over football and basketball no it was not successful. If you look at the entire program as a whole, yes it was successful.
  5. Coach Ratliff lost his job for not winning footfall games. His job was not solely a football coach. He is was an AD of a successful sports program. He went to events of every sport and supported boys and girls sports not just football. He was successful but a few parents didn't like their kids were not winning football games. Bring in any coach you want with the kids we had playing this year and they might have won 2 games. It's nothing against the kids or the coaches. It was the level of the district and the muturity level and expirence of our kids. They will be good in future years. As far as the booster club, most people have no clue what we actually do for the program. Then there are others that don't care. They only want to expect the best without the means or ability to get there.
  6. We had a very successful baseball season under the circumstances. As a parent of a child on that team, we wanted more but I don't think you can find a parent from the team that says it wasn't a success. That team was more than about wins and losses. That team went through adversity and didn't quit. They learn more about life lessons through there season than most kids learn throughout their high school years. You hold too much stock in wins and losses. Granted everyone wants their kids to win a title or go play in college. To me it is more important to prepare these young athletes for life through competition and teamwork. Failures and success teach lessons.
  7. Concessions are staffed just fine first of all. Next at a booster meet we discuss the needs of all sports that fall outside the budget and attempt to meet those needs. We discuss ideas to better our facilities and act on the ones we can. We come up with fundraising ideas to supplement for athletics. The booster club dies alot more than sell tshirts and run the concession stand. I challenge you to come to 1 meeting and hear what we are planning and working on. Next meeting is December 9th in the gym foyer at 6pm. Everyone is welcome.
  8. Saying the kids at New Diana are not talented or the program has not been successful in the last few years is not true. If you believe this then look up the facts. Last year alone every sport made the playoffs or has a student represent the school at the next level. Football 4th place with a 3-7 record. Volleyball 2nd place. Cross country multiple kids to Regionals and 1 to State. Boys basketball - missed Girls basketball - 3rd Powelifting - multiple reqional qualifiers to regionals. 3 qualified to State. 2 state records set by 2 athletes. 2 place and 3 place finishers in state. Boys Golf - athletes placed in District Girls Golf - athletes placed in District Tennis - good district showing. Places unknown. Boys Track - District Champions Girls Track - multiple regional qualifiers. State Qualifier placed 2nd and 3rd in events. Baseball - 3rd in district. Lost a parent of a player and a coach during the season. Softball - went to playoffs under a 1st year coach. There are ups and downs in every program. This years football team was full of young players with little expirence. Excuses? No. Parents expecting more out of their kids? Yes These young men will be successful in the coming years if the parents will allow the coaches to coach who ever they may be. I would suggest those that want to discuss the state of the program to come to a booster meeting. Get involved with the program and help make the program successful. There are so many tearing the program down but very few building it up. In the last 3 months, 4 people have came to a booster meeting that were not a coach or an officer.
  9. ND has built a new weight room that open a few weeks ago. There are plans for more updates but it is difficult doing major overhauls due to funds. We receive very little tax base due to being a community. Most of the taxes go to the county instead of to the school. There are efforts to change many things but it takes time. Naturally parents if athletes want wins now but it is not going to change very quickly without needed improvements other than a coach. This will now be the the 4th coach since 2005.
  10. Arp by less that 10 ND by 2 WR by 9 Was by enough
  11. Hallsville 9th won 35-14 over Pine Tree.Hallsville JV won 26-12 over Pine Tree. The score was actually 26-6 but both teams got together with1.4 seconds to let a special player for Pine Tree to score a touchdown.Fantastic! That shows class and great sportsmanship by both teams and their coaches.
  12. Waskom will score enough points on defense to beat Troup. Or they will recover more onside kicks than Troup scores points.
  13. Just some added information. Anyone is welcome to tailgate with us in the gravel parking lot before the game. We will have fried fish and chicken with all the fixing. We ask for a $6 donation. Also, we had a parent pass away on monday and will have various location for donations for the family. Anything will be appreciated. Thank you
  14. Don't be suprised how a bunch of sophomore players will get after you. They are young and tough but just very inexpirenced. They will play hard and give their best. They will make mistakes and they will learn. But don't expect them to take a physical whipping without dishing it back. Good luck to both teams and safe travels for all.
  15. Thank you on the great compliment on our field. We are proud of each and every puddle. It would be great to have 12" of rain on Thursday and Friday to show just how special those puddles are to us. It will be senior night with lots of rain soaked festivities. You can bet we will do everything in our power to get all the events done before game time and do the best we can to get the game played on our specially puddled up field. Good luck to Winona and hopefully you will appreciate our hospitality when you visit.
  16. QB soph. RB jr. RB sr. If they can do this, the future is very very bright. Add and the soph on the OL
  17. ND is very young and inexpirenced. They will learn through the class of hard knocks. One thing they have going is they don't quit. They play hard and keep trying. They will get better but it might just not be this year.
  18. EF has their reserves in and scores again. 40-0 6:53 left in 2nd.
  19. This is New Diana Homecoming game. Both teams are struggling but ND will have a little extra this night. ND 12 Troup 6 if the defenses play. ND 36 Troup 34 if the offenseS play.
  20. Jefferson 34 ND 15 Jefferson opened it up and had some key defensive plays. ND had too many mistakes and the officiating was questionable to say the least. Inadvertent whistle on a fumbled punt. So the official says redo the play??? Great game Bulldogs. Good Luck Eagles.
