Archery is not a UIL sanctioned event/sport. There are not 'districts' for archery....poor, uninformed example on your part. When you reply to this post, please admit you were wrong. UG, according to another smoaky thread, turned in 205 for realignment....Tatum was over 500 if memory serves....simply from a mathematic standpoint it would be difficult for them to compete year in and year out....although I do believe UG beat Tatum in baseball one game last year at the varsity level...... I have tried to understand your point of view.....even when I totally disagree with you. Civil discourse, which you have stated you desire, requires effort from all parties involved in the conversation.......I don't think it is your opinion that irritates....it is the condescending fashion in which you present it in that is the issue. Well, I know all them dudes he got by. A lot of speed on the Waskom team. Wish them the best as they move on......I am proud of UG and it was a GREAT experience for that group.....

I do not see how bashing the situation of one particular school and using terms like 'humiliated' , and comments like, 'Don't snivel so much' are civil debate......but you are welcome to your opinion.

They beat the teams they needed to beat to get into the playoffs. They earned their trip according to the rules set forth by the UIL.....everybody in the state had the same opportunity. Fact is, UG beat Hawkins, West Rusk and Winona and they were the underdog across the board in each of those games according to the Harris poll......your opinion on UG being in the playoffs is irrelevant to the 30+ kids on the team, a high school student body that has a feeling of pride and self-worth and a community that love their Lions. You are entitled to your opinion regarding the UIL and numbers of teams in the playoffs........valid points on both sides of that argument. However, singling out UG with a blanket statement saying they don't deserve to be there is not appropriate. Waskom and UG both were dealt the same cards and made it to this point in the 2013 season. Waskom is a quality team with speed to burn and they have put up impressive numbers.........they will be heavy favorites in this game no doubt.....I hope both teams come out injury free and have a great experience as it has been quite a while since either made it this far......

Might be one and done......but that is not the point. The point is the Lions have a chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 1968..... That is BIG for the community and kids. Winona is a good team with speed and it is at Winona...so it will be a BIG challenge for UG. Who they might face in bi-district and the possible results of any playoff game at this point is moot............the Lions have to make it first. I am pullin for the Grove....45 years is a long time. hunter92- I hope Garrison goes far in the playoffs and represent the district well....I am sure they will.......but that is me.
