  1. Complete dismantling by Tatum. They were just better than us. Creer is the best high school running back that I have seen in years. He changes directions and makes cuts at full speed. He never slows. All of Tatum's players at the skill positions are superior. They all have speed to burn and can all make plays. They were really quite impressive to watch.
  2. We really have not played good since the New Diana game. We are not controlling the line of scrimmage when we are on offense. Also, fumbles have been a problem. We had three or four on Friday. Our defense is playing great however. Our kicker could determine the outcome in a close game, he is really good.
  3. Bill Harper has won every where he has been and is also a nice guy.
  4. My observations of the game are the following: 1) Harmony has a very good coach that scouted Jefferson extremely well and had a good game plan that the Harmony players executed very well. I can see Harmony's HC moving on to a bigger school. I was quite impressed. 2) Number 44 for Harmony is a good high school football player. 3) To Jeffersons coach's credit, Jefferson made adjustments to Harmony consistently running the ball between the tackles and stopped them in the second half by jamming the middle. 4) Jefferson may have trouble with a team that can run the ball up the middle and also has speed for outside runs. Harmony did not have the team speed to take advantage of Jefferson jamming the middle. 5) Jefferson may have enough team speed to overcome having to jam the middle on certain teams. They seem far superior to everyone they have played thus far when it comes to speed. 6) Jefferson's best player may be their kicker. He is quite a weapon, deep kickoffs and can make a 40 yard field goal.
  5. Don't be so quick to give out accolades. I've got a long memory and I remember this. Jefferson went 3 deep in 3 sports (football, basketball, and baseball) in Greg Brown's last year as AD and head football coach. It is a shame he got out of coaching. A school with any sense that wanted a decent guy, a good football mind, and man that saw the value of all sports, should beg him out of retirement as a principal in Pine Tree. Also as far as academics go, Jefferson High School just got an unacceptable rating from the Texas Education Agency based on last years test scores. I have a hard time believing the "athletes" test scores were superior to the rest of the student body.
  6. Sabine was also 3A, but they are quite possibly one of the weaker 3A teams that I have ever seen. I cannot see them giving anyone any real competion this season. It's going to be a long season for Sabine. Jefferson either scored or almost scored on every running play.
