  1. We have started registration for the Nac/Lufkin fall softball league. This league is designed to give coaches a chance to develop new players, move up to the next age division or just have a chance to get some more games in without having to spend a lot of money on tournament fees and travel expense. Games will begin Saturday, Sept 13, with the last game on Sat., Oct 11. Teams will play a double header each Saturday alternating between Lufkin and Nac. The registration fee is $350 per team for teams that have proof of insurance or $450 for teams that need insurance. We play ASA rules, 8 under will be coach pitch and those games will be 60 minutes long. 10, 12, 14 under will play 75 minute games. We also plan to have our fall high school league again this year in Nac. Games will start around the middle of Sept, but will be played on a week night and will end before basketball starts. This league is designed for high school teams that want to get a little fall practice in before the spring season starts. U2U me if you are interested in more details about either league or check out the flyer (soon to be posted) on our district website: www.asadistrict38.com

    woden score

Anyone know the score from the Woden/Harmony games tonight?
  7. Anyone have the complete list for the all district selections for our district (14-4A)? It's out because we saw part of it, but would like to know the selections from all the schools. If you have seen the list or know where it is posted, please reply or copy it to this thread. Thanks!
  8. Are they wanting to play tournament ball or in a league? We have a league in Nac and might have a few teams needing pickups. What positions? Let me know.
  9. Well, it seems that NB is well represented on this post. I just wanted to wish Woden good luck in this series also. They are a good group of girls who are very dedicated to softball and it would be great to see them rewarded with a state championship. Most of them have played countless hours of summer ball and have taken lesson after lesson to improve their skills - all while keeping their grades up also. Good Luck, Woden Lady Eagles!
  10. I thought I would post some upcoming tournament information regarding the ASA state/national qualifier tournaments. Lufkin will host the 18 under A state tournament this year on June 20-22. Nacogdoches will host a 12 under A national qualifier on June 6-8. Information on both of these tournaments is available on our district website -- asadistrict38.com. In addition, Longview will host the 14 u A state tourn on June 20-22 and an 18 under A National Qualifier on June 6-8 and Tyler will host 16 u B state on June 20-22. You can always visit txasa.org for more information. Nacogdoches/Lufkin will also have a 16/18 under league beginning the first week of June. Games will be double headers on weeknights through June. These games will qualify your team for state championship play. Check out the asadistrict38.com website for more info. Thanks!
  11. Just wondering if anyone can tell me who to contact if I would like to get certified to call volleyball in the East Texas area?
  12. Nac lost a close one to Hallsville tonight 1-0. Hallsville scored the lone run late in the game to take the win. Nac's pitcher threw a great game - striking out 7 or 8 batters. We had bases loaded but couldn't get a run across the plate. Most all of Nac's games have been low scoring games like 1-0 or 2-1. Even though we can't seem to put a win in the win column, aside from the game against Henderson, we have only given up a handful of runs the entire season - should be a prize for that!!! We have a team full of expensive bats, but we can't seem to buy a hit when it matters. :(
  13. Nac beat Jacksonville 11-4. The Nac paper was wrong - it had 7-4. Just curious - when a player throws the bat after batting and gets a warning from the umpire not to throw it again - but she throws it and actually hits the umpire :w00t: the next time she comes up to bat, what is the TASO rule regarding this? Last night in Jacksonville, the umpire took the player out of the game after the second time she threw the bat and allowed a substitute batter to come to the plate and assume her count. I would have thought the batter would have been called out, removed from the game and a substitute player entered into her spot in the lineup. I could not find anything about it in the 2008 ASA rule book and I know that TASO differs some - so I just wondered if anyone could confirm the correct call? Also, has anyone ever heard of the umpire telling the batter (a slapper) to move up in the box so that she won't hit the catcher when she takes her warm up swings (happened in Nac)? I always thought the batter was entitled to the entire box and that the catcher needed to set up off the batter's stance - not the other way around! :bangin: We have had some crazy umpire calls this season. Anyone else have any stories to add?
  14. I heard that Jacksonville beat Kilgore. Anyone have any scores or details on that game?
  15. Pine Tree at Nac on Mon 3/10 at 5 for a rescheduled match from Thursday night (that was rescheduled from Monday 3/3). Nac is supposed to play Whitehouse tonight.
