  1. There is no doubt that Longview will defeat Pine Tree, and probably by a large margin. The bad part is all of the hateful comments on this thread about Pine Tree. No one will argue that PT has a poor football program and that it hasn't been very good in a long time. But, the fact that Pine Tree is a great school with a very good, overall athletic program for boys and girls and definetly one of the best in the area. Pine Tree is still one of the best schools, academically that excells in many areas with tons of great kids and teachers. The disrespect that PT endures because of football is rediculous and actually reveals an undertoe of either, jealously, or ignorance by many of their detractors. As I mentioned in a previous thread, every kid that straps it on and gives it all they got, win or lose, is a far cry better for the effort than those that chirp from the sidelines about that, which they do not understand. As an ex-football player that endured few loses, I find it hard to beleive that most of you guys posting such hateful #### about high school kids, ever played. Or, if you did, you obviously didn't learn the life lessons that your coaches should have been teaching you about class in victory or defeat. And for what it's worth, I think that it is rediculous that this game is being played in Tyler, period. For ten years these two schools played each other, at each others home fields that have not change one bit since the series ended. You may not like our house or the size of our house, but that's just the way it is! Like it or not. Coach Russell failed to understand this age old tradition and missed the opportunity to see his own house popping at it's seams with "standing room only", packed in like sardines at Pirate Stadium, like it was during the 80's series and the glory days of the 60's and 70's. Instead, there are going to be about 30-buses and no tellng how many vans and school vehicles, etc... traveling to Tyler to play a Longview-Pine Tree game. It just doesn't make sense. Well, good luck to both teams and hopefully it won't get too out-of-hand for the Pirates. GO PIRATES!!!
  2. The lobos will take this one, "running away"!!!! The mavs were the only team in this district that could have given the lobos much of a game, and as we all know, it didn't happen. And it dang sure won't happen against, yet another, over rated hallville team. The perrinial power house (hallville), once again, can't give an opponent credit in a close game, just like they can't seem to admit a loss, without making a bunch of lame excuses about how they should have won. The truth about this one is that the lobos will be the lobos and hallville will be hallville. lobos-56 hallville-6
  3. I beleive if you look closer, Pine Tree basketball history totally blow h-ville away! Not even close. And, even though h-ville may run more speed onto the track, you would probably be surprised just how successful Pine Tree has been in track. And, I hate to break it to ya, but golf, tennis and soccer is really in Pine Tree's favor. Check it out.
  4. What the heck, I'll throw my 2-cents in about the Pirates and the Bobcats. Other than h-vills slight over-all edge in football, the Pirates have held the upper hand over the cats in every boys sports. Baseballs fairly close, but everything else leans heavy in the Pirates favor. And, even though the Pirates have pretty much "sucked" the last few years in football, they did make the playoffs in 2001. Granted, the Pirates aren't great in football and lord knows those guys take a beating around most East Texas circles. However, I would take every PT kid that straps it on and goes out there day after day, than those that don't or didn't and simply stand or once stood on the side lines and run their mouths! Talks cheap, that's why everyone does it! As for me, hats off to these kids and those that strap it on, or once strapped it on, win or lose. If you didn't, you wouldn't understand. Even though I am a Pirate, I suspect that "hallville" will win at home this week by as much as 30. PT lost their top RB and with the injuries and a thin line-up to start with, I would be surprised to see much of a game. And in the truest spirit of the hallville-Pine Tree rivalry, hallville suxs! And, GO PIRATES!!! Hahahahah!!!
  5. pt is a little better than i thought they would be, and the offense will defineltly score more than 7 against mt.pleasant. the pt defense, especially the secondary, is very suspect and be abused if continually attacked. having said that, i predict a pt upset in mt.pleasant with a 17-14 pt win.
  6. Other than the ss quarterback, ss is a average 4a team. Lose the qb and ss is done. Longview will totally dismantle ss, literally!! I watched a below average 4a team, pt, not only keep it close, but if they hadn't trown a pic in the zone from inside the 10, and another pic on a 2pt attempt, have a long td run turned around by a penalty, not to mention a few coaching blunders, who knows? I predict a 48-0 lobo win and a very shell-shocked ss bunch when the smake clears.
  7. I am not sure that they are studs as much as the district has a few duds! this year. This district looks to be down to me. Seniors, Thompson and Shore are pretty tough from the mound and will compete. Hendon, also a senior, is the best athlete with game break talent and a diamond in the rough. The rest of the team are pretty scrappy and are willing to compete. Marrs is doing a good job with the line up and seems to have the team relaxed and confident. The real test will be the playoffs.
  8. If I remember correctly, when Lobo turf was being installed there was a ton of rain and the company doing it couldn't get an extension past the dead line from Longview and didn't want to guarantee the job. I believe Longview pressed the issue and then wanted to sue after the fact. Does anyone else remember something about that?
  9. I will take PT by 6. As a matter of fact, Sheppard may be the only dog that scores for K-town.
  10. Eastfield JUCO beat UTD and their 3rd in the MAC. UTT has way more talent than anyone else in the SWAG. Props to UTT for a great season, but you do have to recongnize just how weak this conference really is. And, if I were a betting man, I would bet that TJC would take 2 from UTT in a 3-game series.
  11. I think Hosea put it around 65-68', not sure.
  12. I thought this was the High School Sports forum, isn't it? I thought that track was a High School Sport, isn't it? I also remember when Carter set the record, went on to star at SMU before making a pretty good pro in the NFL. I believe he competed in the Olympic Games also. The guy was a great athlete. More that appropriate to discuss in this forum.
  13. At this point in the season I think it's a pretty good move on Marrs' part to schedule Corsicana. PT is undefeated in district and haven't really been pushed that hard. I personally think the district is a little down and PT just flat has way more pitching than the rest and play better defense. Corsicana should be a good gauge for Marrs and PT to figure out where they stand in terms of playoff teams. Not a bad move at all.
  14. I don't think he really led the ags on that much. They offered up a better contract that he didn't sign and unlike Barnes and Donanvan, I never heard or read that he came out publically and miss-led anyone. As much as anything, I think the ads were hoping for something that just wasn't going to happen.
  15. Behind McCoy, Texas will roll to the Big-12 Championship this season. Lots of surprises coming for Longhorn fans. Texas will roll..... HOOK'EM!!!
