  1. I would not go to school in MG because they do not play football but I will tip my hat to Coach Billingsley at Miller Grove because he has them boys playing some pretty good basketball. He works the snot out of them and then some more. They act right and play hard. He has made some players out of some that most would put in a PE class. Kids want to win but some don't like what it takes to win,- so Coach Billingsley (like most good coaches) must be able to get kids to do things that they dont want to do, in order to win. Nobody should even be arguing/bashing over this nonsense.
  2. I have seen Teneha and Sabine and both can play. Have not seen Cayuga but beating Clarksville was very impressive until Clarksville got beat in round 2 by Peaster!! Cayuga is my favorite in 1a, but Tenaha had something to say about that last year too. Cayuga all the way.
  3. IT DOESN'T PAY WHEN COMPARED TO CARLISLE, TENAHA, JOAQUIN, ETC... YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED THAT THEIR ASSISTANTS AT THOSE SCHOOLS ARE TAKEN CARE OF. COMPARE OVERTON TO ANY OF THESE AND IT WOULD BE LAST SO THEY MIGHT HAVE TO SETTLE
  4. BLOOMBURG AND DETROIT AND MILLER GROVE ARE PLAYING GOOD AS WELL DON'T KNOW DIVISIONS OF THEM, BUT THEY CAN PLAY TOO
  5. Should have gave that Tard a "T". I am glad it was you and not me, I would have made a bigger scene. Should have gotten the refs to throw him out of the gym.
  6. Van people have a different perspective than those on the outside. I think their expectations are a little off from what they have actually done. Don't compare Van to a Gilmer. Could Van be like Gilmer, yes I think it can be.
  7. I am fine with them splitting the titles if they are still going to pay the HFC. If they can't afford it then don't do it. If you want to be like Gimer and Carthage, then pay 'em like the other state champion 3a's.
  8. Probably since they are one of the true double wing teams left in the state. Have to come up with a defense of the week to defend it. Only time all year you will see it, and won't get better at your own base defense. I like what they do in joaquin but would rather not have to mess with defending it once a year. Too many spread teams to have to prepare for on the schedule. They are average 1a athletes but Coach Gandy has them tougher than an old boot, disciplined like the military, and if you put those two qualities in a double wing , WATCH OUT.
  9. Quinlan Boles and Tenaha are loaded!!
  10. YEAH THAT IS PROBABLY BETTER THAN JVCOACH BRINGING HIS TELEPHONE POLE TO USE
  11. JVCOACH'S FIELD EVENT IS THE POLE VAULT :banghead:
  12. if you think it is broke now wait til next year 3A 440? - 1030? big problems for small school 3A
  13. I want to question whether or not Waskom really wants a change in everything, or do they just want somebody different leading the football team. I have heard that Griffin might stay and coach some more bball, I heard that Lowe might stay and just teach. Both of them are great people I am sure and good coaches, I thought you wanted a change. Does the new guy get to clean house or do they want him to keep a couple of the other football coaches. I heard from some guys that went thru the facilities that the fieldhouse looked like a pigpen. Have the school board from Waskom walk thru the trashed out coaches office, and the lockerroom, equipment room and they might just reconsider who gets to stay. It is only 2 years old. Have some pride, or just go to the top 4 schools in your district and look and see how things are run, how much money is paid to the AD/HFC (Waskom is way last), assistant stipends. See where they put there priorities. To get different results there must be alot of change and things shaken up hard. If no changes, you will get same results just a different coach. How much are you willing to pay for a winning mindset, pride, assistant coaches who could be head coaches, endless amount of energy and love, and that might cost you some $$$$. We are going to find out pretty soon that money talks and bullcorn walks. I wish everybody the best because Waskom has had some talent
  14. QUOTE (Bear_Den @ Nov 28 2009, 01:31 AM) Here's a list of people in East Tx that would be good for the job: JB Haggerty (Tatum asst) Tim Russell (Gilmer asst) Jordan Lesley (Kilgore College asst) Dale Irwin (Arp Head coach) Alan Metzel (Gilmer Asst) Matt Turner (Gilmer Asst) Tommy Edwards (Gilmer asst) Kurt Traylor (Gilmer asst) John Berry (Longview asst) Ken Little (Henderson asst) Mike Vallery (Kilgore head coach) John Frazier (WR head coach) Ted Patton (Rusk head coach) Todd Barr (Gilmer asst) Whoever gets the job is taking over the reigns of a great athletic department that is successful on both the boys/girls sides. Good luck. WHY WOULD SOME OF THESE GUYS EVEN CONSIDER LEAVING THEIR CURRENT JOB FOR THIS? I BET MY HOUSE THAT 7 OUT OF THE 14 YOU LISTED ALREADY MAKE THE SAME KIND OF MONEY OR BETTER. SPRING HILL PEOPLE PROBABLY THINK IT IS A BETTER JOB THAN THOSE ON THE OUTSIDE. WHAT IF THEY ARE IN A DISTRICT WITH GILMER, CARTHAGE, HENDERSON, AND KILGORE, GLADEWATER,? ??? IS SPRING HILL WILLING TO PAY THE SAME MONEY THAT GILMER DOES FOR THEIR FOOTBALL PROGRAM? IS SPRING HILL GOING TO HAVE TO ALWAYS COMPETE WITH GILMER AND CARTHAGE IN DISTRICT OR PLAYOFFS? WHAT IS THE LEVEL OF COMMITMENT BY THE TOWN? THE SAME MONEY THAT CARTHAGE BOUGHT THEIR PROGRAM WITH? I DON'T THINK SPRING HILL IS WILLING TO BACK THEIR TOWN (BUY STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS) LIKE SOME NEIGHBORING SCHOOLS. CONGRATS TO THE ADMINISTRATION IN GILMER AND CARTHAGE FOR TAKING A STAND AND MAKING IT HAPPEN. IT IS JUST GOING TO FORCE THE LITTLE ONES TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE OR JUST SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY.
