  1. Some more perspective: Center's schedule Loss vs. Waskom 3a-II (11-0) 34-22 Win vs. Buna 3a-I (5-6) 36-0 Win vs. Garrison 3a-II (5-6) 33-10 Win vs. Jasper 4a-I (7-4) 26-23 Win vs. Hardin-Jefferson 4a-II (2-8) 21-7 Win vs. Spring Hill (1-9) 56-10 Win vs. Tatum (0-10) 42-7 Win vs. Atlanta (7-4) 30-7 Win vs. Pleasant Grove (6-5) 57-35 Loss vs. Gladewater (5-6) 38-36 Win vs. Rains (6-5) 51-14 Looking forward to an exciting game!
  2. Fairfield has a lot of playoff experience. 3 or 4 of them started, as sophomores, on their team that made the championship, while several others were moved up and saw some playing time in the playoffs. They also played in 2 rounds last year. They have been inconsistent at times, but 2 of their losses were to div1 teams that are still in the playoffs. Looking forward to an exciting game.
  3. Being recruited as a cb, I believe. Proud of this kid!
  4. They may not be ranked, but don't overlook Fairfield. They lose some great players on defense, but should return about 9 starters on offense.
  5. Connally has a lot of speed and big play ability. Seems like they struggled on defense. Mexia beat them in a shootout. Fairfield beat them running the ball and keeping their offense off the field.
  6. We had most of the defense return from last year, only 2 or 3 returned on offense. Offense has been inconsistent most of the season. They will move the ball and score one game and struggle the next. Offense definitely struggled tonight. They have lots of speed and talent. Hopefully they will have it together next week. Going to have to be on their game against a quality opponent in Gladewater.
  7. So Fairfield will lay down and can't play from behind. Ask Kaufman about that. They were up 14-0 and Fairfield didn't have a problem coming back. I think Fairfield will take it Friday night, but if I am wrong, I can promise you they will not lay down or quit.
  8. I don't think it will be 70-0 like last year. Mexia was a lot better than the score indicated, but got down, had some bad breaks, and seemed to quit. Mexia seems to be a lot better this year, but I like Fairfield for the win. Fairfield is playing great defense, which should match up with Mexia's offense and speed. Mexia has given up a lot of points on defense, and Fairfield should be able to move the ball.
  9. Fairfield will get its offense going and win this one.
  10. The old Buffalo coach was a Leon grad and a classmate of the Leon coach. Elks may win, but should not be a blowout like last week.
  11. What a great scrimmage. There was definitely some intensity and hard hitting, especially for a scrimmage. Fairfield's depth issue showed again. I just hope they can get some spots figured out. I thought both teams starting defenses started out very well. Yes, we had a DT and a WR/QB that were out and the DT also starts on the OL and the other also starts as an OLB. I was very impressed with your QB, even if he was a back up. He was accurate and made good decisions, except for the pick six at the beginning. Our offense struggled all night with the exception of the one drive that stalled with the flag in the end zone. We only have one returning on the OL and the inexperience showed against your great defense. Ya'll will make some noise this year. Hopefully, if we can get some of our depth issues solved, we can meet again down the road. Good luck with ya'lls season!
  12. Yes, Fairfield was a great team last year. I'm not going to argue about who was best, because bottom line is that they came up short. They did surprise many people who believed that Argyle would blow them out, but that was last season. It's a new year. Many people believe they will falter this season, losing Rose and so much of the offense. Time will tell, but during their first scrimmage against Athens, they scored 4 times on their first set of plays. They have two backs, one of whom may be faster than Rose. They have many experienced receivers and a quarterback that got lots of experience in the second halves of playoff games. The defense returns most starters. One thing I think that they lack presently is depth. Time will tell, but hopefully some of the younger ones will step up. Tatum will be a great experience for these younger guys. Hope to see a great scrimmage.
  13. We are still spreading it out. First scrimmage was about equal with run and pass. We have a number of guys that can take it to the house. Hate to hear your QB may not play, but hope the young man will be ready for the season. I really expect a lot of back ups to see a good bit of time, with the coaches looking for some to add some depth for the season.
  14. Caleb is not playing football and did not play last year either.
