  1. The Alto Yellowjackets will host the Winona Wildcats this Friday at 7:30 in the first home game of the season. (I’m claiming it right now! Lol) The Jackets have not played since Week 1 vs. Troup and are anxious to get back under the Friday night lights. Winona has three games under their belts with a win over Lone Oak and losses to Frankston and Elysian Fields. It’s homecoming in Alto with festivities beginning at 7:00 p.m. Fingers crossed that we are 100% and everything goes as scheduled. UPDATE: District 11-2A play is now October 1st for all schools; bye week has been moved to Nove
  2. (Side-note: I asked Bear9T1 if he wanted to start this thread since Timpson is the heavy favorite! He said for me to go ahead. Lol) The Alto Yellowjackets (11-2A D1) will travel to Timpson to take on the #3 Bears (10-2A D1) this Friday. The Jackets stumbled out of the gate with a 48-18 loss to Troup while the Bears soundly defeated Frankston 61-0. The Jackets lead the series 30-16-1 but lost to the state semi-finalists 40-6 last year. The last time Timpson defeated Alto two years in a row was in 2003 and 2004. Seems like a tall task for the Jackets, who are learning a new system
  3. SECOND SEASON: District play begins! The Alto Yellowjackets travel to Big Sandy to take on the Wildcats in the District 10-2A opener on Friday, October 11th. The Jackets are 5-0 for the first time since 2015 with wins over Westwood, Timpson, New Diana, Garrison, and Corrigan-Camden. Big Sandy has losses to San Augustine, Timpson, Mineola, and Rivercrest; they defeated Alba-Golden in Week 2. The Jackets took this one last season 21-12. Who starts district 1-0?
  4. The Alto Yellowjackets (4-0) will travel to Corrigan-Camden (3-1) in hopes of avenging last year’s 39-26 loss to the Bulldogs at Jacket Stadium. The Mean Sting defense is playing lights out in the last 3 games with 2 shut outs (Timpson/New Diana), allowing one touchdown to Garrison. The Bulldogs fell to Joaquin 16-14. This is the final tuneup for district play for both teams. Who takes the dub?
  5. The Alto Yellowjackets (2-0) host the New Diana Eagles (2-0) for Homecoming 2019 in pre-district action on Friday the 13th! The Jackets won 32-14 last year in New Diana. Both teams come into this game looking to stay undefeated. The Jackets have defeated Palestine Westwood 28-20 and Timpson 45-0 while New Diana handily defeated Harmony 44-14 and White Oak 34-14 in statement games. This looks like an Eagle team that is on a roll! The Jackets, meanwhile found their groove in Week 2 playing with fewer penalties and turnovers. Who wins this game? Can’t imagine the Mean Sting losing a homecoming ga
  6. The Alto Yellowjackets (2-0) are off to a fast start in the 2018 season while the New Diana Eagles (0-2) have struggled after graduating a huge senior class. The Mean Sting opened with wins over Westwood (48-28) and Timpson (51-27) while the Eagles fell to White Oak (35-7) and Harmony (53-13). Who takes this one?
  7. The Alto Yellowjackets (1-0) host their former district rival Timpson Bears (1-0) in pre-season football action. The Jackets defeated Westwood 48-28 in the season opener while the Bears took care of Hemphill 36-26. Should be an interesting matchup!
  8. Alto (10-2A D1) travels to Palestine Westwood (11-3A D1) Friday to open the 2018 football season under new head coach Ricky Meeks (OC Tatum). Kick-off is 7:30. The Jackets are coming off their first losing season in 30 years (4-7) while Westwood, after opening last year with a win over Frankston, lost their remaining games to finish the season 1-9. Westwood is also under new leadership this year as Richard Bishop (OC Grapevine) takes over. Which first-time head coach gets his very first win?
