LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES 11.24.2012 - Longview 57, Dallas Jesuit 25 - Wildcat-Ram Stadium 11.20.2004 - Longview 44, Dallas Jesuit 14 - Lion Memorial Stadium 09.05.1975 - Longview 27, Dallas Jesuit 0 - Lobo Stadium 09.06.1974 - Longview 28, Dallas Jesuit 0 - Haggar Stadium 09.06.1973 - Longview 14, Dallas Jesuit 0 - Lobo Stadium FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW How...bout...them...Lobos. Longview sent their statement to the rest of the region following their 42-21 demolishing of the Beaumont West Brook Bruins. The Lobos held a slight 7-6 lead at halftime only to come out roaring in the 3rd quarter to the tune of a 28-point quarter and a 35-14 lead. Another touchdown added in the fourth pushed the Longview lead to 42-14 before the Bruins finally broke the scoring run in the final minutes with the second stringers in. For Longview, it avenges a loss to these same Bruins from a year quarter. A loss that saw the Lobos blow a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter down in Beaumont to fall 34-33. The win gives the Lobos their 10th 10-win season under current head coach John King, and their 60th playoff win in program history. Next up for the Lobos is a familiar playoff opponent in the Dallas Jesuit Rangers. The Lobos and Rangers meet for the 3rd time in the playoffs, after previous meetings in 2004 and 2012. In 2004, the Rangers came in with a 10-1 record to the Area round meeting as the Lobos came in 11-0. In a rain drenched game, Longview walked away with a 44-14 victory. In the 2012 meeting, a profilic offense was suppose to give the Rangers a big chance but after a back and forth 1st quarter, Longview imposed their will on Jesuit and ran away with the contest with a 57-25 win. The Lobos return to John E. Kincaide Stadium for the first time since their 2013 Bi-District contest against Rowlett. Kincaide has become a 2nd home for previous Longview teams, as the Lobos sport a 10-0 record at the Dallas ISD based stadium. 9 of those 10 victories came in the post season. Those 3 of those games saw the Lobos not score 30 points, and only 2 of the games were within two scores. Longview will be looking to advance to their 10th Regional Round appearance under John King. LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES 11.11.2016 - Beaumont West Brook 34, Longview 33 - C.A. Thomas Multipurpose Center FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW And so we meet again. For the second consecutive season, the Longview Lobos and the Beaumont West Brook Bruins will face off in the 6A Division II Region II Bi-District round of the playoffs. Unlike last season though, despite claiming a share of the district championship in 2016, when Longview had to travel to Beaumont to take on the Bruins..the Lobos will welcome West Brook to Lobo Stadum. Last season, the Lobos saw a 10-point 4th quarter lead escape them in the later part of the quarter following a fumble inside the 10 yard line that would've sealed the deal for the Lobo gave the Bruins new life. West Brook walked away with the 34-33 victory. The loss for Longview marked the first time in 11 seasons that the Lobos failed to reach the 2nd round of the playoffs. Both John King's losses in bi-district play have come at the hands of a missed field goal as the clock ran out, and each came by a single point. Longview's last three seasons have ended at the hands of missed field goals. In 2014, Longview missed a long field goal in the ran as time ran out to fall to Mansfield Lake Ridge, 37-35. In 2015, Longview missed a chip shot field goal in the final seconds that would've sent the Lobos into overtime as they fell again to the Eagles, 56-53. And then last season's 34-33 loss to West Brook. The Lobos travel home where they are holding onto a 7-game home winning streak. Longview is 180-37-6 all-time at new Lobo Stadium, which opened in 1976. That record also includes a 62-5 mark under John King with one forfeit included. Longview will be hosting it's 3rd playoff game at Lobo Stadium where in 1984 the Lobos fell to Bryan and had to wait until 2009 to host another when Longview demolished Whitehouse 52-9.
