  1. Great venue and great game to shoot...was a game of two totally different halves... Timpson Bears 48 Centerville Tigers 13
  2. The whole season is nice, but the playoffs are the best time of the year...I'll be shooting Timpson vs Centerville at the Tomato Bowl in Jacksonville...you can see my pics on my Facebook page.
  3. (Side-note: I asked Bear9T1 if he wanted to start this thread since Timpson is the heavy favorite! He said for me to go ahead. Lol) The Alto Yellowjackets (11-2A D1) will travel to Timpson to take on the #3 Bears (10-2A D1) this Friday. The Jackets stumbled out of the gate with a 48-18 loss to Troup while the Bears soundly defeated Frankston 61-0. The Jackets lead the series 30-16-1 but lost to the state semi-finalists 40-6 last year. The last time Timpson defeated Alto two years in a row was in 2003 and 2004. Seems like a tall task for the Jackets, who are learning a new system under Coach Gamble, but that’s why you play the game, right? The Jackets will have to limit mistakes (too many turnovers vs Troup!) and play with their hair on fire every down to have any hope of upsetting the Bears. I’m a homer and never pick against my Jackets so I’m going Alto by 7. Some folks are saying Timpson by fiddy. We’ll see Friday night! It’s the BATTLE OF THE BLACK & GOLD and IT’S ON!! GOOOOOO JACKETS! STING ‘EM!!
  4. Some of the photos I took at the Timpson/Beckville Region III Championship
  5. The Alto Yellowjackets (11-2A D1) will host the Timpson Bears (10-2A D1) for homecoming this Friday. The Jackets opened the season with a tough loss to Troup 27-0 while the Bears defeated Frankston 68-24. The Jackets lead the series 30-15-1 and defeated Timpson 45-0 last year while the Alto JV won 18-0. Timpson defeated Alto in 2004 by a score of 14-7. The Bears (bi-district finalists from a year ago) return 17 lettermen with 6 offensive and 7 defensive starters. The young Jackets are trying to find their groove with almost all new personnel in most positions. Who wins?
  6. The Alto Yellowjackets travel to Timpson to take on the Bears in a 10-2A vs 11-2A showdown. The Mean Sting survived a close one with the Westwood Panthers, winning 28-20 at home. The Bears fell to Hemphill 56-39. Last year the Jackets took this one 51-27. I predict the black and gold team will win! Lol Jacket victory! Hope we can reduce our penalties and put our best foot forward this week. Good luck to both teams.
  7. The Alto Yellowjackets (1-0) host their former district rival Timpson Bears (1-0) in pre-season football action. The Jackets defeated Westwood 48-28 in the season opener while the Bears took care of Hemphill 36-26. Should be an interesting matchup!

  9. How's your team looking? Which teams do you think are gonna come out on top of this district? Any darkhorses that can defy expectations? What do y'all think?
  10. Mustangs at Bears 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 John Herbert Eakin Stadium, Timpson
  11. This should be an exciting district. I'm interested to see how Tenaha's QB progresses this year, and how Therwhanger does at Timpson. Loads of talent, can he turn them into a powerhouse similar to the way he did Lovelady? Strange to see Wortham and Tenaha in the same district.
  12. Two teams that have played in fits and starts all season... with Tenaha clinching district last week, Maud and Overton are fighting for who plays who in the postseason. 3-0 Tenaha 2-1 Overton 2-2 Timpson 1-2 Maud 0-3 Mount E. 0-4 Fruitvale Hmm, do three teams go into the postseason, or four? Because at 1-2, Maud is on the outside looking in. If they win, that's a three-way tie for second but I'm not sure how the tire-breaker would work. That would mean they beat Overton, who beat Timpson, who beat Maud, who beat Overton, who beat Timpson, who beat Maud, who beat... With a win, Overton would finish second in 11-2A and likely face Evadale in bi-district. Man, I'm not sure what'd be a neutral site for that game... Lufkin? Maud had a pretty hot start, so I don't know what happened against Timpson, but I reckon we'll have to score more than 9 points to beat them. Plus, I don't think this one's gonna come down to a last-second field goal. If Overton leads late, they'll run out the clock. If Maud leads late, they'll probably try to run it up for the sake of playoff calculations (I know I would). The Cards are usually tough at home (3-0 this season), so the Mustangs are gonna have to grab some momentum early to offset the homefield advantage. Can they do it? We'll see...
  13. Who wins the district and what order will the playoff teams be seeded? Maud Cardinals Mt Enterprise Wildcats Overton Mustangs Tenaha Tigers Timpson Bears
  14. Who do you think wins this district, boys and girls?
  15. So here it is: Fruitvale Maud Mount Enterprise Overton Tenaha Timpson I know almost nothing about Fruitvale, except that they're a former six-man school. Timpson and Maud are pretty tough year-in and year-out, Overton and Mount Enterprise should enjoy a rather spirited Rusk County rivalry (it's been too long since these neighbors have played). Tenaha is the obvious favorite in this district, but they shouldn't expect anyone to lay down for them. Thoughts?
  16. I've got us (Overton) in a district looking like this: District ?- 2A Division II Overton (152) Tenaha (142) Timpson (147) Mount E (102) What about y'all? What sort of district do you see your former-1A now-2A school landing in?
