  1. 2024-2026 UIL REALIGNMENT DAY finds a couple new schools added to last realignment's District 11: Grapeland & Lovelady. We lose Carlisle who bumped back up to D1. District 11-2A (D2): Alto Cushing Grapeland Lovelady Mount Enterprise Overton Tenaha Should be a competitive district! Maybe only second to District 10.....in Region 3 anyway. When you look at the map, seems the UIL got East Texas right.
  2. The Alto Yellowjackets will travel to Cushing this Friday to take on the Bearkats; kickoff has been moved up to 5:00 p.m. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE. The Jackets and Bearkats have played a total of 24 times with Alto leading the series 20-4. The last game played between the two was in 2019 with a 61-0 Alto win. The Bearkats’ last win in the series was 24-23 in 1992. The Mean Sting hung on to defeat Overton 32-29 Friday while the Bearkats defeated Tenaha 23-20 with a field goal as time expired. Both squads are 2-1 in district. Results for the 2022 season thus far: Shelbyville 48 - Alto 44 Alto 48 - West Sabine 22 Alto 22 - San Augustine 8 Garrison 28 - Alto 20 Alto 32 - Groveton 20 Alto 46 - Mount Enterprise 34 Tenaha 43 - Alto 42 Alto 32 - Overton 29 Cayuga 32 - Cushing 7 Cushing 34 - Deweyville 12 Cushing 16 - Union Grove 7 Cushing 57 - West Hardin 0 Cushing 23 - Colmesneil 20 Cushing 22 - Overton 15 (OT) Carlisle 49 - Cushing 20 Cushing 23 - Tenaha 20 ALTO-CUSHING SERIES All-Time Record for Alto: 603 wins | 384 losses | 34 ties | 1,021 total games All-Time Record for Cushing: 260 wins | 474 losses | 9 ties | 743 total games All-Time Series Record: Alto - 20 wins | Cushing - 4 wins Alto’s longest winning streak vs. Cushing: 13 wins in a row (1993-2019) Cushing’s longest winning streak vs. Alto: 2 wins in a row (1976-1977) Current streak: Alto 13 wins in a row (1993 - now) Gonna be a battle in Cushing on Friday! I expect a hard-fought game between both squads. I think our offense will be fine but our defense is going to have to tighten up. Should help getting two (possibly three) of our starters back. Our 3 losses are by a total of 13 points so I know we have it in us. Just have to execute! We know we are in for a fight. Cushing is solid and has proven that this season. Looking forward to this game!
  3. The 2019 football season is on the horizon! The first prediction for District 10-2A that I have seen was on Twitter today by Scouting Report (@SR_scouting) SO I thought I would go ahead and start this thread. I like the way this looks.
  4. The Alto Yellowjackets will travel to Cushing to take on the Bearkats Friday, October 25th. The Jackets lead the series 13-1 with that one loss coming in 1992. On paper, this game is a mismatch but we play the game for a reason! Who ya got?
  5. Today begins the 2018-19 high school baseball season! Four 2A schools (Alto, Cushing, Douglass, Groveton) and three 1A schools (Apple Springs, Kennard, Wells) come together to comprise District 22. The 2A schools will play each other three times in district play and the 1A schools one time. Douglass (28-7 | 11-1 Regional Finalist in 2018) is the pre-season #2 team in the state while Cushing (12-10-1 | 7-5 Area Finalist) also gets a mention. Groveton (14-10 | 9-3 Regional Quarterfinalist) is just two years removed from playing in the state tournament while Alto returns six starters from a 26-6 | 10-2 Area Finalist team with a talented freshman group coming. Should be a competitive district! http://txhighschoolbaseball.com/2a/22-2a/ http://txhighschoolbaseball.com/2a/diamond-pro-thsb-preseason-2a-top-20/
  6. The first day of practice is days away!! The new District 10-2A consists of Alto, Big Sandy, Carlisle, Cushing, Hawkins, and Union Grove. Time to start the football talk! Week 1: Alto @ Palestine Westwood Big Sandy vs. San Augustine @ Beckville Sabine @ Carlisle Cushing @ Chilton Hawkins @ Alba-Golden Union Grove @ Simms Bowie EXCITED for this season to begin! How do you think this district will shake out?
  7. The Alto Yellowjackets host the Cushing Bearkats Friday, October 26 at Cam’Ron Mathews Field at Jacket Stadium. It’s Senior Night! The Mean Sting and the Bearkats share a loss to the district leading and state-ranked Carlisle Indians. Both teams enter this game 1-1 in district with the Jackets defeating Big Sandy and Cushing defeating Hawkins for their first district win since 2011. Cushing has momentum, and Alto is looking to rebound. Who goes to 2-1?
  8. My understanding is lovelady and Cushing game 1 is in lovelady now due to wet field in Cushing? What about 2 and (if needed) 3? The locations? Thanks
  9. Overton at Big Sandy, 6 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium So yeah, once again, it's just a scrimmage — but it sure beats playing with yourself. Uh, I mean, it sure beats playing against yourself. Please don't ban me. But anyway... What are some things you're hoping to see out of your kids? Overton showed some backfield depth, but struggled to pass the ball. Defensively there was poor tackling and blown assignments. Was this just early-season jitters or a sign of things to come? Big Sandy remains a mystery as well. They've got some young talent on the roster but are struggling to assert themselves. Both teams have good coaching staffs, and they've got their programs going in the right direction. It'll be interesting to see which team has made more progress during the preseason. Thoughts?
