The Lobos have a 6-0 lead when the game is a district contest. The Yellowjackets have a 1-0 lead when the game is a playoff contest. The two schools have never played at a neutral location. The Lobos have a 4-0 lead when the game is played at Longview. The Lobos have a 3-1 lead when the game is played at Rockwall. Longview has won the last seven meetings with the Yellowjackets. Longview is 3-0 all-time against Rockwall at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium, with the Lobos winning the last three meetings there. The two schools have never met on September 28th. LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES 10.06.2017 - Longview 31, Rockwall 21 - Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium 09.03.2016 - Longview 36, Rockwall 29 - Lobo Stadium 11.08.2013 - Longview 41, Rockwall 7 - Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium 11.09.2012 - Longview 40, Rockwall 7 - Lobo Stadium 10.14.2005 - Longview 37, Rockwall 35 - Lobo Stadium FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW Records, records and more records. That was the theme for the Lobos during their 56-28 victory over the Ruston Bearcats, in a game that saw three school records fall and two others tied. Longview's Haynes King threw for 359 passing yards to set the new school record in that category, surpassing Joel Armstrong's 314 passing yards he set in 2000 vs Tyler Lee. Behind 185 of those 359 passing yards, was Kamden Perry, who set the new school record for receiving yards in a game with those 185 yards. Each player also tied the school record for passing touchdowns in a game (5) and receiving touchdowns in a game (3). Overall, the Lobos set a school record for passing yards in a game with 379 total passing yards. Even with the school records and the 56 points, the Lobos hurt themselves a lot of times throughout the game. The Lobos, after receiving the opening kickoff, drove down the field and were in a prime position on the two yard line of Ruston to put up the opening score. However, a fumble started things off on the wrong foot. Three more fumbles would come for Longview on the night, two by high/bad snaps. 10 of Ruston's 18 points came directly from those two bad snaps. The Lobo defense also had their own struggles on the night, giving up a season high 535 yards on the night (8th most allowed in team history). But when the going went tough, the Lobos made numerous 4th down stops inside their own 25 and the Lobos were able to hold Ruston scoreless in the 4th quarter. With the win, Longview improved to 4-0 on the season for the first time since 2005. And won their 9th consecutive non-district game, their longest since a 18-game non-district winning streak dating from 2001 to 2005. Next up on the slate for the Lobos is District 11-6A. Longview finished 2nd in district play last season, behind Mesquite Horn, in a season that marked just the 2nd time in 14 seasons that Longview did not win at least a share of the district crown under John King. The Lobos are 12-2 in district openers under John King, with both seasons the Lobos lost their district opener being the two seasons they did not win a district crown. Rockwall is Longview's first opponent, a team looking to win their first district crown since the 2015 season. Longview heads back to Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium for the 2nd straight season to face off against the Yellowjackets, a place the Lobos have never lost at. The Lobos are 3-0 all-time against Rockwall at the Wilk, and 5-0 overall. Last season's 31-21 victory marked just the 2nd time in the 5th previous games in Rockwall that the Lobos have allowed 21 points. The Jackets are averaging just 12.7 points a game at home against the Lobos since the two teams joined districts for the first time against one another back in 2004. But this season seems to be a different story for the Jackets. Rockwall is scoring at insane pace of 54.7 points a game, including a 73 point performance against Arlington Martin. The Jackets have scored at least 42 points in all three of their games so far this season, and likely would've in their cancelled game against Rowlett. The two schools have met a previous 8 times, with Longview winning 7 of those contests. Rockwall's only victory came in 1931, when the Jackets knocked off Longview, 20-6, in a Class B Bi-District game. Since then, Longview has rung up seven consecutive victories. The two schools have met only once in non-district play, when the Loboes of 1934 handed Rockwall a 14-7 defeat. In the 6 district victories against Rockwall, 4 of the 6 games have been decided by two scores or less. After a 4 point victory in 2004 and a 2 point victory in 2005, the Lobos blew out Rockwall in consecutive seasons by 33 and 34 points respectively. In 2016, Longview struggled to control the game and nearly fumbled it away at the end before the Lobo defense stepped up for the 36-29 victory. Last season, after struggling mightily in their first two district games, saw the Lobo defense lead the way in the form of holding Rockwall on an 18-yard drive to 0 points and also blocking a field goal. This helped Longview to grow a 24-14 lead, before Rockwall drew within 24-21 in the 4th quarter. Jalen Carr's 2nd pick of the night ended any doubt for Longview and helped the Lobos to a 31-21 win. In 1928, Sulphur Springs grabbed it’s only victory ever over the Lobos, 12-6. In 1929, Owens rushed into the end zone in the 3rd quarter to give Longview a 7-6 lead before a blocked punt recovered by Longview in their own end zone in the 4th quarter gave Marshall an 8-7 victory over the black and gold of Longview in Marshall. In 1945, Jim Hickey rushed in from 30 yards out in the 1st quarter to cap the scoring as Paris notched a 6-0 victory over the Lobos at Noyes Stadium. In 1951, Longview’s Dick Nash started the scoring with an 81 yard rush and the Lobos never looked back in a 26-7 victory over Denison at Lobo Stadium. In 1956, Fort Worth Amon Carter-Riverside picked up two touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to lift them to a 31-19 victory over the Lobos at Lobo Stadium. The Eagles rushed for 321 yards on the night in the win. In 1962, David Kiergan tallied the only touchdown of the night as Longview upset Spring Branch Memorial, 8-0, at Reggie Grob Stadium in Houston. In 1984, Joe Johnson rushed for two touchdowns, and Alvernon Jones hauled in a 56-yard pass reception as the Lobos knocked off Tyler Lee at Rose Stadium, 27-3. In 1990, the Lobos pulled in three first quarter touchdowns and added a safety before the quarter ended to spark a 44-20 victory over #8 Dallas Roosevelt at Lobo Stadium. In 2007, Longview need just 91 seconds to show they were the better team as the Lobos rushed out to a 20-0 lead before you could sit in your chair in a 50-18 romp of Dallas Carter that would begin Longview’s dominance at Kincaide Stadium in Dallas. In 2012, behind 9 fumbles by Longview, the Lobos were slapped and slapped hard in a 33-7 to Mesquite for the Skeeters’ first win over Longview in 48 years. Marco Rodriguez would kick 4 field goals in the contest for Mesquite, as the Lobo D did their best to hold off the Skeeters.

Longview and Rockwall’s week five match ups proved much the difference in both team’s rivalries game. Longview, meeting Tyler Lee for the 58th time overall, saw the Red Raiders climb back to a tie in the opening minutes of the 2nd quarter and compete well with the Lobos as Longview took a blocked extra point that was returned for two points and a last second field goal to the break with their 19-13 lead. After halftime, the Lobos decided they weren’t playing around anymore spouting off 35 points to win their 13th consecutive game over the Red Raiders, 54-26. Tyler Lee’s only offensive touchdown came in the 3rd quarter, before a long fumble return in the 4th gave them their only two scores of the 2nd half. The Lobo defense has given up a total of 23 points in the second half of games through five this season. One problem remains for Longview though. The first half, more importantly the second quarter. After scoring the most points they’ve scored in a second quarter this season with 12 against Tyler Lee, the Lobos sit at a -5 overall in the quarter..which isn’t as bad when you take put the 31 scored against vs Mesquite Horn. However, the team’s play in the first half this season has been spotty at best despite holding a lead in 4 of the 5 games. Longview has erupted in the second half of each game this season outscoring their opponent 119-29 through five games. Against Tyler Lee, A’Darius Carter led the way for the Lobos as he tied the school rushing record with 5 rushing touchdowns in a night. Carter came up just short of a 91 season long record of 6 total touchdowns in a game, which was set twice by Leonard Ray in the 1927 season. Irregardless, Carter became just the 6th player to score 5 or more touchdowns for Longview. Where the Lobos found paydirt, Rockwall found misery. Despite holding a 27-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Jackets couldn’t hold of their cross town rival Heath as the Hawks came all the way back scoring the last touchdown of the game and taking their first lead of the night with 0:00 on the clock. Despite some saying the Hawks didn’t actually get in the end zone, Heath knocked off their rivals for the second straight season in a 28-27 upset. The loss for Rockwall comes a week after seeing the Jackets dominate John Tyler, 48-7. The series between the Lobos and Jackets dates all the way back to 1931, when Rockwall knocked off Longview 20-6 at Jacket Field in a Class B Bi-District game. Since that meeting, the Lobos have rolled off six consecutive wins over the Jackets. Longview comes into Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium with a perfect 4-0 record in Rockwall, with the closest game being a 14-10 Lobo win over Rockwall back in 2004. Longview’s last visit to Rockwall saw the Lobos trail Heath, 14-0, before most Longview fans even got to the stadium. But the Lobos rolled off 35 straight in a 35-21 win. In 1933, Nick Wheeler tallied three touchdown runs as the Lobos knocked off Marshall, 18-0. In 1939, Charles Sapp’s rushing touchdown late in the 4th quarter was all Longview needed to defeat Highland Park at Lobo Stadium. In 1944, Longview absolutely dominated Athens on the road as the Lobos rolled 45-0. In 1950, Sonny Jones tallied from two yards out in the 4th quarter as a missed extra point was the only difference in a 7-6 win over Henderson at Lion Stadium. In 1961, the Lobos used rushing touchdowns from Donny Petty and Robert Myers coupled with two 2-point conversions to knock off Houston San Jacinto, 16-13. In 1967, behind 274 rushing yards, Longview rolled a 37-22 win over Highland Park at Lobo Stadium. Steve Judy, Rodney Hill and Ralph Blount highlighted the Lobo victory. In 1972, Larry Harkless and Mike Mock each tallied in the 2nd quarter as the Lobos held on to a 14-6 victory over Marshall. In 1978, Freddie Williams tallied twice for the Lobos but a failed two point conversion ended Longview’s hope with just 2:50 left in the contest in a 14-13 loss at Dragon Stadium to Nacogdoches. In 1989, Earnest Hunter rushed for four touchdowns and the Lobos ran up 376 yards rushing on the night in a 40-7 victory over Texarkana at Grim Stadium. In 1995, Isiah Stoker tallied there rushing touchdowns as the Lobos dominated Jasper, 28-0. In 2000, LaRandall McKind scored two touchdowns and James Stephen added a fumble return for a tally as the Lobos knocked off Waco, 24-6, at Waco ISD Stadium. In 2005, Vondrell McGee scored first and Chris Ivory tallied twice as the Lobos ran all over Tyler Lee on national television, 35-7.
