Ratface
Here's an interesting quesiton: If the Phillies can force a Game 7, how much would Cliff Lee have left in his tank, working on just two days rest? My guess is he'd be good for anywhere between 50-70 pitches in an all-hands-on-deck situation. If the Phillies could get to Game 7 with a lead in the sixth, I bet he'd be fair game. Remember Randy Johnson in 2001 working on just one days' rest?
Stoney
pedro gets the start wed. right? game 7 you could start hamels or lee? the way lee has pitched i'd go with him. you have to throw your best pitchers if it goes that far.

Yes, Pedro gets the call for the Game 6 start, but if there's a Game 7 (which hopefully there is), Lee will definitely not be getting the start. Nobody is going to start on the hill going on two days rest. Hamels (or possibly even Happ) will get the start, but Lee will be a limited option out of the 'pen. mellon
The Phillies don't need any turmoil with Hamels. Hopefully that can be righted and he can pitch a good game after Pedro shuts them down tomorrow night. ;)
Ratface
If the Fightin' Phils can force a Game 7, believe it or not, I believe I'd probably start Happ. I think Hamels is mentally fried, and I think he's probably physically hurt, too. I just want that to be a decision that Charlie Manuel has to make!
buckhunter270
I hate to see the series come down to these two teams in the series, but the team I hate more are the Yankees. I want to see the Phillies force a game seven and go on to win the series but it will be tough to do that. I don't see them winning 3 games in a row against the almighty Yankees. Hondo#17
In 1968, Mickey Lolich pitched on two days rest and defeated the Cards 4-1 in game seven. That was the year that Denny McLain won 31 games but did not pitch well in the World Series.
cheaptrick77
Mickey Lolich -- one of my favorite "on the bubble" Hall Of Famers ... compare his stats to Catfish Hunter's the next time you get a chance. Lolich went 3-0 in the 1968 Fall Classic & hit the only home run of his career in Game 2 (off Nelson Briles) Today’s pitchers are obviously more conditioned and athletic than they were in Mickey Lolich’s generation, but they are also more pampered -- treated like “investments” instead of Baseball players. Hence, the extinction of the complete game & the 250-inning season.
Ratface
Wasn't it also during the 1968 World Series when Mickey Stanley moved from CF to SS for the Tigers and played extremely well there? I could certainly be wrong here.
Hondo#17
You are correct!! He was moved so that they could get an extra bat in the lineup. The outfielders ended up being Kaline, Northrup, and Horton. The move paid off.

DaveTV1
The wait is over !!! 9 long years of pain and suffering are over, done with, and it feels Great to be a Yankees fan. I hope the Yankees bring back Hideki, and if he had played in Philadelphia he would be my M.V.P. . This was won on team play. I am so grateful that George Steinbrenner had the chutzpah to finally bring in a young coach, that has fire in his belly. Thank You drunken sailors it paid off !!! DaveTV1
Hideki wins it, and I thought there would be bias towards him. I would rather hear Hideki speak Japanese, than see AFRAUD hold that sainted, blessed trophy.

Umm...he's actually called a "manager" in baseball. And I hate to tell you this, but for the past two years, George Steinbrenner couldn't tell Joe Girardi from Joe Torre or Joe Piscopo! Hank Steinbrenner and Cashman brought in Girardi.
DaveTV1
Umm...he's actually called a "manager" in baseball. And I hate to tell you this, but for the past two years, George Steinbrenner couldn't tell Joe Girardi from Joe Torre or Joe Piscopo! Hank Steinbrenner and Cashman brought in Girardi. And a Hockey Sweater is a still a jersey. Baseball shouldn't be played in November, "Let's play two !" Ernie Banks. It's still George's money that hired these guys, and Jorge Posada acknowledged that FACT ! Joe Girardi said this : "We're trying to do this for pops, Mr. Steinbrenner," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. This was for George, and the team played for George, and the team loves George. Why ? Because he pays their salaries. Not many owners are willing to pay people what they deserve for a job well done. George is a rich man, and he expects excellence from his team. The New York Yankees are what hard work is all about. I love capitalism, and the Yankees are the epitome of it. By the way, you socialist :censored: think that you can pay players peanuts. If you want results, you have to pay for results, if you want quality you have to spend an extra dime for it. That's how this world works. I realize that George is in Tampa, and he doesn't have the energy that he used to. If he dies tonight, he dies a happy man. He paid his workers well, and his son will continue to do so. What is so wrong with that ? George also has a soft side to him, and many of you don't see that in him. The Commissioner's Trophy is in the hands of a Great Team. It's football season, and Go Cowboys !!

DaveTV1
 That's why the Rangers are looking for a new owner. Winning starts with leadership, and that leadership starts at the top. If the Rangers management, wants to cut costs, and create gimmicks with signings of Nolan Ryan and what not... You can sit your tail end in the seat, be happy your team gets beat, listen to the Cotton Eyed Joe during the 7th inning stretch : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAltG2NrM0Y . Buy your flimsy little bats, not go to The Rangers Museum, and whine that the Yankees are winning. All over again in 2010. You pay for what you get, we got rid of our riff raff. I see at least 3 more World Series Championships in the next 5 years. These drunken sailors will gladly pay for quality players to join our team. I'm a very happy Yankee fan tonight !!! My wife is really mad at me right now, but she'll be okay tomorrow, she can control the television until Sunday night.
