LoboFan07
Set for 7:30 PM at Kincaide Stadium in Dallas on Saturday, the Longview Lobos and Waxahachie Indians meet for the second time in their histories. The Lobos and Indians last met in 1945 (a 21-0 Longview victory). This will be Longview's third straight trip to the State Quarterfinals, and fourth trip this decade. Longview is 1-2 in those previous 2 games, with the lone win coming last season. Longview also hit 12 wins for the third straight season with the win over Newman Smith. What is there to say about the Lobos? They just continue to find different ways to win, no matter how ugly they might be. In the first half against the Trojans, it was the offense that carried the team. In the second half, it was the defense. It was a great game against Newman Smith and was really really proud to see the defense shut down the most diverse offense, by far, we've seen all season. While Longview has become familiar with being this deep, Waxahachie returns to the State Quarterfinals for the first time since 1993 where they knocked off, funny enough, Sulphur Springs. Don't know much about Waxahachie other than... 1) They have a lot of speed. 2) They have a very good running game. Pretty much, for a Lobo fan...a game against themselves. Should be a great one on Saturday. Am definitely looking forward to it.
Sportsfanatic1
I like the Lobos in this one. And I have seen them both play and Longview has too much speed.
THSfanatic
Definitely rooting for Longview, but I'm on the fence. It's gonna be a nail-biter.

Lobos2004
I think (and hope) Longview's defensive coordinator can correct all of the errors of today and play Hachie tough. They seemed to have fumbilitis at times last night (strange Longview didn't get any turnovers today... they usually get a few) which almost blew it against Highland Park. But then Highland Park got hit with the turnover bug as well to allow Hachie to pull away at the end. I think Longview can pull it out if they play mistake-free and physical. Hachie
I don't know if they allowed us to pull away by giving us some turnovers. If you haven't seen the deflection and interception that Relus Chance had there towards the end, its a thing of beauty. I'm sure a video of that play will come out sometime this week. That's not HP giving us something, that's us taking it away. I'm sure if we play "mistake free and physical" football, we can pull it out too. But didn't they fumble once or twice? I said "pull away" because it was 35-35 late in the game, so it was well-contested until the end when Hachie put it away late. Hachie
Yeah it was a tight game all the way through until mid-to-late 4th quarter. HP had a great offense - as always.
Hachie
HP had averaged 56 points per game in the last 9 games until we limited them to 35 last night.

Hachie
But didn't they fumble once or twice? Yeah, we had a 2 touchdown lead on them in the second half but they scored and after the kickoff, we fumbled the ball deep in our territory and they were able to tie the game and it stayed that way going back and forth until we went up by a touchdown and then Chance got the interception that setup the 2 touchdown win. Hachie
Can Wax throw the ball? Or does no one know cause they haven't had to throw the ball? Our run is the bread and butter but we can pass if needed to. Benton was 7 of 8 for 124 yards and 3 TDs in the first half and after wearing down the HP defensive line, we ran it almost exclusively in the 2nd half. We finished with 154 passing yards and ran for 319 yards.
Sportsfanatic1
Can Wax throw the ball? Or does no one know cause they haven't had to throw the ball? Yea Bevo they did against HP last night. But on the serious point HP'S defense was not very good at all which is normally the case they just throw up a lot of points against weaker teams and it catches up with them on good teams. I thought Newman-Smith's defense was really weak today too could have been a lot more points by the Lobos IMO.

Newman-Smith had a 14 point lead on HP in their game, I'm wanting to say in the 4th quarter. They got smacked around by Coppell and didn't really play too much competition outside of Hachie who beat them pretty good.

Newman Smith led 21-14 in the first quarter and never led again. HP put up 2 TDs in the 2nd qtr (28-21), scored 3 more TDs in the 3rd to NS 1 TD to go up 49-28 and both teams scored a TD in the 4th for the final score of 56-35. In the Coppell game, HP had 6 turnovers and Coppell turned out to be a good team this year (3rd rd playoffs). The rest of the other competition that you say they didn't play were the following playoff teams: Red Oak (barely lost to Midway in bi-dist), 3rd rd Frisco Liberty, Coppell (mentioned), 3rd rd Newman Smith, Richardson Pearce, Rockwall Heath and McKinney. LoboFan07
HP had averaged 56 points per game in the last 9 games until we limited them to 35 last night. And Newman Smith was averaging 44 points per game until we limited them to 25 today. (48 if you wanted me to count just the past 9) Hachie...good luck this week. Need to say that before the week really begins. Glad to have someone to actually talk football with again form the opposing team. Just a warning that you're going to get hammered by Lobo fans for most of the week so be prepared. As I said, good luck. Really have a lot of respect for your team and program. Should be a great one Saturday.
