Liberty-Eylau's boys and girls won Region II team titles.

L-E girls disqualified in 800 relay and still scored a region II record 101 points. Set meet record in 400 relay at 47.0. They had the fastest time in the state in 800. They won 1600 relay in 4:01. L-E was 1-2 in triple jump, both girls over 38 feet. Shanetria Thomas won 200 in 25.0. Murnishia Dickerson won 100. They had a lot of seconds and thirds.

L-E boys scored 114 points, winning 800 and 1600 relays. They were second in 400 relay. They also went 1-2 in the triple jump and 1-3 in the high jump. They had several second-place finishes in individual races. Only disappointment was Lamon Estell finished third in high jump with 6-6. He had jumped 6-10 earlier this year. Teammate Marquestion Huff won the high jump at 6-7.

We have had two win field events and qualify for state...also heard there were more problems with the way the meet was being ran...kind of like last year without the rain!!!

First day they did get way behind. Had some weather problems. Also had some strange things with some starts.

On second day everything was good. Stayed on time. I did not see any problems on the second day.

It was better than last year. Did not rerun any races.

What happend to Daingerfield's Edwin Mims in the 100 meters at regionals? Did he not compete? He recorded a 11.07 and took first place at the district meet. That time would have been good enough to win regionals and would have probably been good enough to get top 3 or 4 at state. I know he ran the relays, but wondered what happened to him in the 100.

Mims is just a freshman, so big things are to be expected from this young man in the next few years.
