East Texas Baseball cards

Recommended Posts

Oh, yes ... I remember him more as the Dodgers' #1 utility man in the 1970s

He played in FOUR World Series:

  • 1974 Dodgers
  • 1977 Dodgers
  • 1978 Dodgers
  • 1979 Pirates

Thats not too bad a career. Thats some good teams to play on too.

Cheapy, there was a guy who played in the 70's early 80's maybe for the A's. One of his cards listed his position as pinch runner. Any idea?

^ Herb Washington

His 1975 Topps Baseball Card is one of my favorite cards of all-time for that very reason!

The Athletics experimented with an outfielder named Allan Lewis as a "designated pinch runner" two years prior to Herb Washington's Major League debut ... Washington's entire Major League career was as a pinch runner.

Finished up a complete set of '75 Topps a few years back. It took me over 20 years to complete it because I wanted all cards in NrMt or better condition. Not an easy task for '75 Topps. In fact, I got the last three cards I needed, all commons, from 5 packs I bought off eBay. I've never been so fired up over commons in my entire life.

^ hehehe

I know the 1975 set is CLASSIC, but I have always been partial to 1976 Topps.

The first pack of Baseball Cards I ever bought was in 1976, my favorite year as a kid :)
