Camusmind
I forget most of you people would rather watch a movie loaded with violence than to watch an intellectual comedy of Woody Allen. Stephen Segal, Jean Claude van Damme, Vin Diesel, Adam Sandler, and Jim Carrey...this is what East Texas considers actors....sad,sad, sad stuff
mellon
Didn't he marry his adopted daughter, or something sick like that. That's pretty intellectual.

I agree, it was sick -- but that has nothing to do with his movies. If you guys knew all of the sick things your favorite actors have done & let that dictate whether or not you watch a movie, there would be no movies for you to watch. I am not advocating anything he did, but he has made some good movies. Our great country is unable to watch any movie that requires an attention span longer than that of a 5th grader.

I simply do not care for Mr. Allen or his movies... I don't understand the need to justify your opinions of the man's work by assuming that anyone who doesn't agree might not be an intellectual. If you like his work - fine by me. Why not extend the same courtesy to me? Daf
Five0pd310
Then that just wouldn't be his style. Eveyone must agree with him or you'll get labled a racist or a bigot. Would you be a Woodyallenist? People have a label for everyone esle. Why not that?
Guest Daf
Well - my initial post may have seemed like a judgement on those that do like Woody. In which case that may have triggered a defensive response from Camusmind. That usually comes from an instinctual level - if so I can understand that if that is the case here. That was not the intention of my comment however so we can all relax. Daf
ndn73
there is a lack of depth in movie theaters today. but its not like thats how it hasnt always been. it would be interesting to see if 20 years ago people had anymore taste than they do now. or if we just think its tasteful because it is old. Forest Gump and Fight Club are two very deep movies that most people dont consider when they jump right in and say taht ALL movies are shallow. what is also sad but true, most people dont even want to develop an attention span longer than a 5th graders anymore

I hope this makes sense........ "Bad" movies of the 1950s-1980s had a "charm" (for a lack of a better word) to them that is completely missing from today's bad movies. Ed Wood made horrible movies, but I would rather watch a 24-hour loop of Plan 9 From Outer Space than a single second of The Fast and the Furious or Bad Boys. Independent directors with tiny budgets making movies (albeit bad) out of nothing is more appealing to me than seeing a car explode or buddy-cops trading cute one-liners as bullets are flying over their heads... Guest sugar
Take The Money and Run. Any film which features a cello in a marching band has got to be a winner.
