I've been trying to confirm this.

I can't seem to find the answer.

Does anyone know?

Graham Harrell (Ennis) was 41-3 as a starter with one state title.

Stump Godfrey (Gilmer) was 41-3 as a starter with one state title.

Cashas Pollard (Tatum) was 41-4 as a starter with two state titles.

Garrett Gilbert (Lake Travis) was 39-4 as a starter with two state titles.

Tyler Boyd was 44-3 as a starter with three state titles.

I believe this may be the most wins by a Texas High School QB.

Looking for confirmation.

Thanks. I appreciate the information. I figured someone from Celina might hold the record.

I'm curious though. Where did you get the information? The UIL does not keep individual records.

Was FSSW wrong? Did Herrin start every game as a sophomore?

 no reply yet,,,, hmmmm sounds fishy to me

I know Herrin won 3 state titles. I was just wondering if he started every game in that 3 year span. The records are so close that a couple games missed due to injury or spent as a back up would make a difference.

Herrin was a 3yr starter and yes he started every game. In regards to the UIL they keep the records of wins and losses for each team. Celina ISD will verify Adam Herrin win loss status just like Daingerfield ISD does for your QB. Adam Herron was the QB that started our 68 game winning streak. During that time he never missed a game, nor was he injured . You can also google him and read his Rice Owl profile where it state he started 3yrs as QB and DB leading Celina to 3 State Championship.

Thanks for the information CG. It's only fitting that a Celina guy would hold the record. Of course, Boyd is right there at the top as well.

As far as Herrin, he played QB/DB in high school and won 3 titles. And, then played Linebacker in college. How is that for one tough hombre?

By the way, we're coming for the record. We plan on getting numbers 7 and 8 in the very near future.

I agree and Boyd is a great one, in regards to 7 & 8, don't mind sharing that mountain top at all, but hopefully Celina's not done yet.

To set the record straight, Stump had 51 - 4 as a starter...41 - 3 as a QB.

Why are you trying to give one man glory for something others created? Tyler Boyd Had more D1 players than most D1 schools lol...... Tyler played some great football man, but his team made him. Give his team the props not him. jj's thoughts!

  • 8 years later...

Roshauud Paul at Bremond was 47-0 with three titles as starting QB....

Kyler Murray was 42-0 as a starter, he didn't take over as the starter until midway through his sophomore season...but he did lead Allen to three state titles....

We still have 2019 to do..

But Haynes King is a missed FG away from possibly leading Longview up to 3 titles.

26-1 as starter.
