Ratface
John Rhadigan has been hired as the Rangers' new play by play broadcaster. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I'm going to like this choice at all. Having said that, I'm still glad Josh Lewin won't be back.
Guest Pigskincrazy
WOW!!!! Well at least the Beltre deal isn't the worst move the Rangers made this off season.....

cheaptrick77
Wow – I am sure he is capable ... I will surly give him a fair listen, but I would have listed at least 100 more names before I got to John Rhadigan! :w00t:
wtlobos
I was kinda hopin' for Steve Busby...Rhadigan is a little stiff and a tad creepy sometimes, IMHO.

cheaptrick77
I was expecting Dave Barnett ... Rhadigan is a strange pick, but I will give him a fair shot at the job before I blast him :)
wtlobos
I'm glad it wasn't Barnett. That guy is so boring, he can make the tv fall asleep.

goldandwhite
I agree that Steve Busby would have been a terrific choice.I agree about Busby, but I figure he didn't want the travel that would be involved. If they ever hire Rick Renner I will turn the sound down on the TV and listen to Eric Nadel call the game.

Mavgrad98
I wonder how much say TAG had in signing or not signing Lewin back and hiring or not hiring Rhadigan...if any at all.
cheaptrick77
^ if I remember correctly, it was Josh Lewin's decision to leave...
Ratface
Ric Renner looks (and acts) exactly like a used car salesman. Maybe he should look into that career, because television is certainly not his forte.

TxBroadcaster
^ if I remember correctly, it was Josh Lewin's decision to leave... It was mutual..Rangers wanted a full time PbP, not someone going off every Sat for Fox baseball, and THEN also doing NFL football....Plus Texas wanted some changes in how he did the game
BUvball
I was a Josh Lewin fan...he did tend to ramble, but I loved the way he went crazy when something big happened.
cheaptrick77
I usually refrain from taking pop-shots in the direction of TV announcers (they are easy targets), but I am not impressed by John Rhadigan's attempts at creating “signature” calls: "It's time to play ball, ya'll!" "Saddle up baseball, you're going for a ride!" Both cringe-worthy...
ODB71
He's pretty cheesy. Wish they would've hired someone who didn't have to try so hard.

I know Josh has been ragged on heavily, but I thought he did a good job. At least he showed an enthusiasm for the game, and it seemed that it was more than a job for him. He would be as excited as we were when the big play happened. As they say, be careful what you wish for - you may get it. Josh may be appreciated a lot more after he is gone than when he was here.
