Celtic09
Those are exceptional distance times, particularly for the 7th grader. Good that he has the 8th graders to run with in practice. Otherwise, it would be lonely running. I think Spring Hill has an 8th grader running close to those times. Someone said he was flirting with 5:10 in the 1600 M. I'll see what I can find. IsaiahMichael
Yes, the Spring Hill kid is named Jake Tomme, 8th grade. I believe his best times are 5:15 and 8:25. Lots of good young distance runners in East Texas to look forward to watching in the near future!
runnerman
I am glad to see the Hallsville coach working so hard on his distance program. You can see the progress in High School CC and Track. Good Job Coach! Those kids are extremely lucky.... Yes, the Spring Hill kid is named Jake Tomme, 8th grade. I believe his best times are 5:15 and 8:25. IsaiahMichael
Any relation to the former Hallsville track coach from the 80's, Nolan Tomme? Yes, Jake Tomme is Nolan Tomme's grandson! Coach Tomme did an amazing job establishing the Hallsville Track & Field program back in the late 80s early 90s. Actually, they won Regional Championships in both 1989 and 1990. Impressive! BuckNut
I heard from a friend that Gilmer's 8th boys 4x100 ran a 45.6 something. If that is true that is pretty good for 8th grade, or JV for that matter.

CasualObserver70
Gilmer 8th grader ran a low 23 in the 200 at jh district meet That would be Chase Tate. Devin Smith ran a 24 as a 7th grader and was a 56 split on anchor leg of mile relay. At 7th grade girls district meet, a girl from Henderson ran a 26.8 200 meters. It was a full second faster than the winning time for the 8th grade girls. Christian Brown (7th grade girl for Gilmer) jumped 15'3" at the Gilmer track meet.
