I don't have the time that sandman does for the research but I wonder how many of those Region 1 & 2 teams actually come from the DFW area. The western part of DFW are in region 1. I know El Paso has has some teams make it and win in teh last 5-6 years.

I wonder what the stats would look like if you broke it down to west tx, dfw, east tx, central tx, south east tx, and the valley

Here are the est. Enrollments on the boys side:

Kingwood Park 2733

Boerne Champion 1550

El Paso Riverside 1400

Kilgore 1090

Truly is a David vs 3 Goliath's.

What's the old saying "it's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the DOG!!!"

I wouldn't say 3 Goliath's...If there were to ever be a 4A DI & DII the 3 would all be close to DII. That cutoff would be somewhere around 1450-1550 most likely. Start talking about 1000+ and 2000+ and then the #'s are a factor for sure. I would think there will be a lot of talk about #'s if KP were to win this year.

I think the bigger question is how in the heck do we have a 4A school with a large 5A enrollment in the first year of an alignment? How do they grow that much since October of last year? That's around a growth of 700+ kids since October of 2009

I believe KP was in the finals last year and lost in a shootout.

When is the insanity going to stop?!?!

5A school (KP) (enrollment wise) playing a 3A school (Kilgore) for state championship.

I guess I am getting ahead of myself.....lets go Bulldogs!!

Not disputing the above numbers as they may be current. But for comparison, the enrollment figures submitted to UIL about 18 months ago for establishing the current alignment are as follows:

Kingwood Park 1601

El Paso Riverside 1315

Boerne Champion 1209

Kilgore 994

4A Enrollment Cutoff: 990 - 2064

Is there any chance that Kingwood Park's enrollment is actually 2733 1733?

Kilgore is 4A. It would have been impressive for Lucas Lovejoy (3A) to be in the mix. I am proud of Kilgore for there hard work and play.
