Date/Time/Location:

Saturday, September 24th, 2:00 PM from Birdville Stadium

All-time series:

The meeting will be the 7th all-time meeting between the two schools with Longview leading the series 4-2-0. Last season, Longview found itself down 17-7 at the end of the first quarter to Abilene in Plano. The Lobos stormed back, however, to take a 24-17 lead into the fourth. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the game, the Eagles tied the match at 24 on a fourth down toss into the end zone. Following an Abilene touchdown and PAT conversion in their first possession, the Lobos ran it in from two yards out. Looking to tie the game up, the Longview faked the extra point and ran it in for the two-point conversion for the 32-31 victory. The five previous match ups between the Lobos and Eagles were between 1981 and 1985. In those games, no team scored more than 21 points in a single game. This will be the second game of a neutral site series. The Lobos were 2-1 in their previous two games against Abilene at Lobo Stadium while the two teams are tied at 1-1 in the series at Shotwell Stadium. The big tie between Longview and Abilene is of course, P. E. Shotwell. Coaching at Abilene from 1918 to 1923 and again in 1946 to 1952, Shotwell brought home Abilene's first ever State Championship in 1923. 14 years later, Shotwell coached Longview to the 1937 State Championship..the only State Championship in the history of Longview High.

Broadcast Information:

Longview's radio broadcast will be on 104.1 FM The Ranch

Abilene's radio broadcast will be on 1560 AM KZQQ

Game Information:

Following Longview's worse loss at home in over a decade, the Lobos had another stern test in week three as they welcomed their long time rival to Homecoming night at Lobo Stadium. And it didn't start pretty for the Lobos. Lufkin jumped out early to a 10-0 lead before Longview could put anything together. Longview's defense, after allowing 1,000 yards in their previous two games combined, stepped up the rest of the way and shut out the Lufkin offense for 3 quarters as Longview rolled to their most impressive victory of the season to date, 24-10. The win marked the first time Longview had beat Lufkin by two scores since 1997, the first time Longview had held the Pack to 10 points or less since 1993, and also was the first win over Lp since their 2008 triple overtime thriller. Abilene season has been of one of up and downs so far. Following two dominate victories, the Eagles have dropped losses. The most recent, was a 45-44 double overtime loss against Harlingen in San Antonio. The Eagles had previously kicked the extra point to send the game to a triple overtime period, but following a penalty, decided to attempt the two-point conversion. That ultimately failed and the Eagles come into the Longview game with a 2-2 record. The 2-2 start for Abilene is their worst start since the 2006 season when they began 0-4.

Went back and looked at the stream.

Score was 45-44 Harlingen. Abilene kicks the PAT. It was good!

Personal foul on Harlingen so they give Abilene the option to take the point and go into 3rd overtime or put the ball 1-1/2 yard out and try again.

They elected to go for Two! Lined up two backs but the ball was bobbled and he did not make it in!

Tough Loss for the Eagles.

Maybe they should have tried a Lobo Suprise!

LOBO SURPRISE! LOL

I was on the sideline last year when he called that and then looked at Lobos2004 and watch this play. It was a great ending to last years game but this year Longview wins in a blowout.
