This would be a slap in the face of the true die hard Stros fans. Pandering to the bandwagon jumpers and the all mighty dollar is a great way to start your ownership. Sorry Astros fans. Ratface
Surely the name change won't really happen. That would indeed be a slap in the face to too many people.
triplethreat
No name change needed. That would really hack some people off. But, they do need to bring back the Rainbow jerseys and the orange hats.

That's right! Those early to mid-80's popsicle jerseys along with the clown pants with the elastic waistband! Thank God that clown pant trend of the mid-80's went the way of the buffalo. Those were embarrassing and a disgrace.
Stoney
^ Now that I'be okay with. Just like the Texans should be the Oilers.
goldandwhite
^ Now that I'be okay with. Just like the Texans should be the Oilers. I liked the Astros uniforms with the shooting star on the front of the jerseys.
Stoney
Or the '86 jerseys with the dark blue shoulders and shooting star across the front?
Five0pd310
Kind of makes sense actually, since the only reason they were called the Astros was because they played in the Astrodome. Maybe the can call themselves the Minute Maids?
topher805
I can live with the uniform change. I am not a fan of their current uni's. They look to much like children's pajama's. Now for a name change that would be a travesty. The name fits the team perfectly with NASA sitting in Houston. IF they were to change their name, the only option would be the Colt .45's. Any other name would be a waste of time and a slap in every Astro's fans face.
DaveTV1
I think I have to agree with Mr. William Irving Neder who on television stated that the should be called the Houston Half Astros. Her husband was the person that won the initial Name the Team contest.

THSfanatic
If they change the name, the new ownership will burn whatever good will they have from me. Sounds like a thinly veiled quest for money in new logo sales to me. I'm an Astros fan. Period.

Paradox
Could be worse. Based on when I lived there years ago, An appropriate name might be - the Houston Cockroaches.

Baron
The only name change that makes sense would be going back to the Colt .45's That won't happen, not in major sports. After the Bullets became the Wizards the weaponized team name/logo is history. Too much PCness in this country.
Stoney
With train and a nod to Nolan how about the Express?

topher805
With train and a nod to Nolan how about the Express? Thats would be the Rangers AAA affiliates name (Round Rock Express), which was the Astros affiliate just a few years back.
Natural
I heard the name "Disastros" was being tossed around. I hate it. I grew up an Astros fan. Just leave it alone. I don't think the name is broken.
Baron
Maybe the Houston Gunslingers, or the Houston Oilers, or the Houston Outlaws, or the Houston Roughnecks If there were to be a change, I like Outlaws, but it will never happen. All the PC idiots outside of Texas will scream bloody murder.
sackem
Now for a name change that would be a travesty. The name fits the team perfectly with NASA sitting in Houston. With Obama wanting to shut NASA down makes sense. Get rid of anything with the name so people want be reminded of it. We could be giving that money to the have nots to close the gap instead of shooting at the moon.
THSfanatic
Way too much uproar in Houston. The name won't change. In the new owner's defense, he did not actually bring up that he was considering a name change. He was responding to hypothetical questions about "everything being on the table"
Ratface
Crane emailed season ticket holders yesterday to let them know that the name will not be changing.
