Smoaky
Smoaky.com confirmed the contract of AD/Football Coach Eric King has not been renewed past the 2012-2013 school year. King is 12-9 in two years at Elysian Fields High School, and he told Smoaky.com, "I will be the head coach here at Elysian Fields for the 2012 season, or until I am told differently by the school board of our district. The school board has pinpointed a few things in our athletic program that need to be fixed. My contract will be reviewed at a later date by the school board. Elysian Fields has been home for nearly 4 years to my wife and I. There will be ten out of our eleven sports here that will qualify for the playoffs and or sent some one to regional competition for the 2011-2012 school year. We have made huge strides with discipline, participation, and our overall success in Elysian Fields. We believe in the direction of our athletic program and will continue to take this program to bigger and better things."

nationalpastime
That place is screwy! Good luck, King.
getusome
Elysian Fields revolves around Football (nothing against the other sports). Not making the playoffs the last 3 years and getting knocked out in the 1st round last year probalby did not help. I agree with the first post Good Luck coach Elysian Fields is a tough place for a AD.
Paradox
I can remember way back in the day when all you had to do to beat Elysian Fields in most sports was to show up. Those times have obviously changed. Some other things about Elysian Fields obviously haven't.
jacketparent
This is embarrassing for our community. So we don't give king an extension on his contract? Are we trying to run another coach off late in the spring. Brilliant idea to the powers that be, let's tick this staff off so that they will leave late in the spring. Bring in a brand new system and brand new staff late in the spring.......that will mesh well with probably the best team that EF has had in the past 5 or 6 years. We are really setting ourselves up for success. When is the next school board election?

Wild74
Well you can't please all the people all the time but you may have to please the right people most of the time.If he has only been there a couple of years he might need a little more time. Hope things work out...

He is currently retired but ive heard lots of rumors that he is getting the itch to get back in the mix and start coaching em up again. His name is at the top of lots of lists. Just a matter of time before he lands a bigtime gig. Word on the street is he turned down the Jacksonville job. Didnt surprise me in the least that they were going after him with his ties to the area. He specializes in offensive line play and is also an incredible secondary coach. gatorpoint0718
Wow. I think i have heard of this guy. He coaches em up! And if he were here then we'd win us a state championship just like the ole 87 team when we was kids.LOL. I am truly speechless about what I just read and cant believe that someone put it online.Surely its a joke. I dont know the guy or never even heard of him but I feel bad for him if he is real. I mean dang he even "specializes" in stuff and now has the handle "best coach in East Texas". Can we start another thread on the word "best"? Personally I am confused as to how this guy, who has apparently mastered the long lost art of coaching, is being mentioned for a job thats not open. Even though he is a specialist and all. Well if you knew who this great man was you would definitely want him leading the Yellowjackets. I cannot begin to tell you what kind of offensive mind he posseses. He has the God given ability to see the whole field and can shred the defense if they are not prepared, and even if they are prepared he has been know to pull a rabbit out of the hat(you cannot imagine the bag of tricks he has). He ran a double reverse pass against Garrison when he was directing the offense at Cushing(and let me tell you they were explosive)and every defensive player on the field was faked out of their jock. gatorpoint0718
He is the brother of Dave Thomas? so that would make him Wendys uncle. That would be good for post game meals.

BillyClydePuckett
Personally it seems to me to be in bad taste to be submitting people for a job that is not even open.

Had heard that King was offered a few jobs this year but decided to stay in EF. Surely they can not go into the season without this fixed.
