^ I was admiring this expanded version of the iconic photo & noticed the row of cameramen on the top-left portion. Where are the photos from that angle - facing Mays ?? I could only find one:

Great work, Cheapy! What a truly spectacular grab that was 58 years ago. And from what I've read, they say the throw back into the SS was even more impressive. As I recall, the throw either kept Larry Doby from tagging up from 2B and scoring (taking two bases), or kept him from tagging up altogether.

Doby advanced to 3rd on the play:

INDIANS 8TH: Doby walked; Rosen singled [Doby to second]; LIDDLE

REPLACED MAGLIE (PITCHING); Wertz flied to center ("The Catch") [Doby to

third]; MAJESKI BATTED FOR PHILLEY; GRISSOM REPLACED LIDDLE

(PITCHING); MITCHELL BATTED FOR MAJESKI; Mitchell walked [Rosen

to second]; POPE BATTED FOR STRICKLAND; Pope was called out on

strikes; Hegan flied out to left; 0 R, 1 H, 0 E, 3 LOB. Indians

2, Giants 2.

BTW - Vic Wertz went 4-for-5 (2 singles, double, triple) that game & drove in both Indians runs.

The Giants won the game, 5-2, on Dusty Rhodes' 3-run pinch hit HR in the bottom of the 10th
