MaravichVSChitwood
MP Tigers fall to Wylie by a score of 53-50 in Bi-District action. The Tigers were down by as much as 17 at one point and clawed back to within 1 pt inside of 1 minute to go. Great heart displayed by the Tigers in the 4th quarter! Hallsville Bobcats fall to Lovejoy by 22pts (don't know the actual score.) Haven't heard about T-High or Marshall.....anyone got it?

MaravichVSChitwood
Marshall lost to Sherman by 2.... 14-4A hasn't had the best year....0-12 in playoffs for combined sports. GL to JT and Jax, as I understand they were the lone survivors of their 1st round matchups from 16-4A.
LoneStardom5
year in and year out it is tough for the NE TX teams to compete with the Metroplex... think people are way to eager to point fingers at coaches, when reality is, the athletes or depth is in the Dallas area... However, I am surprised with the lack of success/competitiveness out of some of the "1" seeds... Obviously Marshall lost a close, competitive game..... Just expect a little more from some of these 1-4 matchups across the board in all sports...
MaravichVSChitwood
Agreed. Jax won by 1 in OT, MP lost by 3 in an intense 2nd half type of game, and Marshall lost by 2...but it seems all others were completely lopsided.

MaravichVSChitwood
Jax played Lancaster (4 seed out of their district) and took them to the wire in OT.

Just expect a little more from some of these 1-4 matchups across the board in all sports... problem is that Football is king in E-Tex. Teams are so good, that many are still playing well into basketball, and alot of the players just skip basketball, especially at the Varsity level, because they are worn out from long football season. And if a player is very good in football, sometimes its suggested that he focus on that sport only. I know in the case of JT, they have the talent to compete with the Dallas schools, if everyone played, and if they are able to play a full season. Also, many of those metroplex schools are not good in football so many athletes pick basketball over football or the athletes who do both are out on the court 10-12 games before the E-TEX schools can get their players from football. This makes a huge difference. Those teams are in postseason shaped by the time the east texas guys are just getting into regular season form. Coach Rab
good news for Marshall is that we know Coach Carson can coach High School basketball and should have them back in the playoffs again next season.
