gtownkeeper
Anyone got any more information on what exactly went down in Rockwall-Heath/Longview Boys game last night? Longview News-Journal had this report, indicating issues with officials and a net? http://www.news-journal.com/etvarsity/high_school/et-boys-soccer-longview-rockwall-heath/article_bc24e0b0-8664-11e2-90a2-001a4bcf887a.html
tiger19
No issue with the net or the officials. RH showed up 25 minutes late with 15 players on their JV squad. JV game was shorten to have enough time for varsity. The varsity team had 11 players which at that point didnt make any sense. Then with 15 minutes to go in first half one of their players got a yellow card for deliberately standing in front of a free kick. That left ten on field. With 10 mins to go Longview scored third goal and Coach said the goal didnt count bc their was a hole in the net. Their wasnt a hole in net and the ball was in the net. He then told the ref he wanted to end game. The ref said are you injured and the coach asked his players "how many are injured" Then four RH players hit the ground. Coach said not enough to play and boarded bus and left. RH forfeited and Longview got the 3-0 score. It is a UIL violation to abandon an event and the coach Im sure will be a bit of trouble. gtownkeeper
Thanks for that, Tiger... definitely sounds like that coach may be hearing from Austin soon.
tiger19
Its a horrible example to set for your players as a Coach. I heard a coach this year tell his players when they were down 7-0 "whatever you do please dont give up or quit" That man has all my respect!!!!!!!!! This guy must have had quite a story to tell his kids on the bus back home.
SOCCERBUFF
Any more on this story? Also can you update the standings for us? Thanks
gtownkeeper
As far as updates go, I can confirm that North Mesquite beat Longview and that Mesquite pulled out a 3-1 shocker over Lee.
tiger19
We are starting to really hate all these Overtime games!!!!!!!! Longview up 2-0 on North and North get two pks and wins 3-2 in Overtime. Then Longview hands Rockwall their first loss of district 1-0 and only 2nd time Rockwall had been scored on all district. The Coach from Rockwall Heath was suspended. Mesquite beat Tyler Lee and it was a shocker but not so much. Mesquite's jv coach played at UTTyler and is doing some good stuff with that team. It was only matter of time for them to get it together. Standings going into Friday: 1. Rockwall 27 2. North Mesquite 23 (play Tyler Lee at Rose Stadium) 3. Longview 20 (play @ Horn and then off Monday) 4. Tyler Lee 15 (play North Mesquite friday and @ Rockwall Monday) 5. Mesquite Horn 14 (play Longview and then @ North Mesquite) 6. Mesquite 7 7. Rockwall Heath 2 FYI last year every team in this district won their first round game except for the fourth place. 1st and 3rd (lee and longview) played for Regional Quarters. Good tough District. tiger19
LOL. We knew that one good team could be left out of the playoffs. Just couldnt think who it would be. Who would you have thought? Longview has Bye monday. Other monday games: Horn plays North Mesquite for third or fourth If Tyler Lee beats Rockwall they finish fourth and Horn is out.Longview by beating Rockwall skinned in for playoffs.
