Ryan Tomlin resigned on Tuesday as the boys head basketball coach at Whitehouse High School to become an assistant principal at Lindale High School.

Tomlin, who has been the head coach at Whitehouse for five years, told David Smoak, "I was 100% committed to coming back to Whitehouse for the next season, but this opportunity became available and after thinking it through, talking with my wife and praying about it, I just felt it was time for a new chapter in my life and career."

When asked if he would ever get back into coaching, Tomlin responded, "I will always have coaching in my blood, so I'm going to take this one year at a time."

Tomlin has been a head basketball coach for 11-years, Whitehouse (5-years), Bullard (5-years), and Bonham (1-year).

Whitehouse was 23-9 during the 2012-2013 season, losing to Mansfield Legacy in the first round of the Class 4-A state playoffs. The Wildcats had lost in the Area Round the previous four years. Tomlin was 72-37 in his five years at Whitehouse.

Not a big deal in dahouse anymore! McFarlin made Whitehouse a football school, so this isnt a big story like it may have been 8 years ago. New AD may do it. He is an old Wally Dawkins assistant. That would most likely match the new direction. May even hire Wally back?

Wally isn't going anywhere. He has a much better gig right now. Tons of current and future talent gives him opportunity for State titles over the next 4 to 5 years plus he has total control of his program. You can't get that control at Whitehouse.
