Based on tonight's scrimmage in Tyler, the Lobos have a full offensive arsenal that they'll begin with in the 2013 season.

Longview has an experienced QB (Chumley) who looked pretty comfortable. They have two bruisers at FB (Hunter & Powell),

two home run threats at TB (Hasty & Peterson) and a stable of WR's (Leonard, Anthony, Pellum, Jacobs & Carter) as well as a big TE

(Whitaker). Combine all these threats with a hefty o-line and you have a very formidable Offense that will score....in bunches.

They protected the football pretty well tonight. I do not recall any fumbles which will be the key....without any question for this

football team. The offense will have to carry Longview and protecting the football is an absolute must !

On defense....there's good news and bad news. The good news is that Longview has a high quality secondary. They have two good

CB's (Coby & Loyd) and two excellent Safety's (Maxey & Howard). The bad news is the injury to Zaycoven Henderson has opened a

glaring hole in the interior. JT gashed the inside with a nice mix of quick hitting passes and misdirection runs early in the scrimmage.

The Lobo DE's (Anderson & Lanier) both performed well throughout the evening and LB Flanagan was in on numerous tackles as well.

After JT's early pass/run success, the Lobo defensive coaches countered by going to a three man defensive front and employed six DB's

which made a noticeable difference in their ability to slow things down that the Lions had been doing. They'll probably see more of this as

Longview will HAVE to utilize it's great overall team speed to help the defense out until the big man returns in the middle.

It will be an entertaining brand of football for the Lobos this season.....without any doubt.

I think Lobos will be a force this yr. No matter the outcome of this game, come playoff time they will be a tough out.
