Newton's Kevin Shorter commits

Recommended Posts

Newton RB Kevin Shorter, 6'0 - 186 lbs, has verbally committed to the University of Texas. He held offers from some of the top programs in the country including Texas A&M, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Florida State.

He enters his senior season third in school history in both total rushing yards (2,960) and rushing touchdowns (43).

Shorter chose the Longhorns over a final three that also included the Aggies and Razorbacks. He joins Jasper OL Terrell Cuney and Longview WR Dorian Leonard as 2014 East Texas players committed to UT.

Pretty surprised it wasn't Arkansas.

Yep. I actually thought UT would be last of the 3.

Knew about this Thursday night.

He had people guessing last night though. Wore red shoes and an Aggie colored undershirt during scrimmage.

He's also a perfect fit for the Daje Johnson role..

I look for him to be a hybrid receiver/running back. Would love to see him turn into a Marquise Goodwin type player.
