I think this came down to coaching. Coach Rhoades made great adjustments at the half and made sure the Yoemen kept their cool. WO's coach lost it a couple of times in the 2nd half and nearly got flagged several times. He's a good coach and he will have his team back on top again next year. He just needs to lead by example to keep his team calm and composed. Yoemen never looked rattled in the second half. WO will learn to have that confidence in their team and when we're rebuilding, they'll be right back at it.

At the end of 2011 Refugio was #1 with 632 wins and Yoe was #2 with 630. Then we went undefeated last year and lost one this year. Yoe is now the leader. I know you dont like us but that is the truth....and the Yoemo thing is getting old. In this post you are calling our team "Yoemos". You said "ur yoemos". These boys are working the butts off out there, leaving every ounce of their soul on that field. You could atleast show them some respect and not refer to 16 and 17 year old boys as Yoemos. Last time I checked, they did win tonight with everything stacked against them. That showed some guts.

I was at this game and it was most defintely a tale of two halves. As it has been said, i believe the biggest turning point in the game was that screen play that broke. It was an obvious call and i thought that WO would be able to snuff it out but they didnt and it went for a huge gain. The fog was horrendous in the second half. I too thought that McCurdy had that ball in the endzone but it was bang bang so i believe the right call was made. The yoeman did a wonderful job defending him all night. If i remember correctly he was only held to 2 or 3 catches for less than 20 yds. That definitely didnt help the roughnecks since he is such a workhorse. Gabe Michael had a great game. There were some dropped passes for sure and some balls that were thrown a little inaccurate. This came down to WO not capitalizing on opportunities to put them away. I also think that the lack of depth started to hurt them in the second half but the defense still played lights out in my opinion except for that one play. The yoeman were also just a step or two too fast on the outside runs and that helped them alot. Somari Wright is a monster and if that kid isnt playing at the next level i will be shocked. Regardless it was a season to remember for the Necks but a tough way to end it. The refs left alot to be desired in my opinion, especially for a State Semifinal game.

Stats

Total Yardage WO 405 Yoe 175

First Downs WO 23 Yoe 11

Kopriva held to 116 yards

Smith held to 67

Everyone knows the better team is not going to the finals. I am just sick !

Break those stats down by half. WO made 300 yards offense in the first half. Yoe had 36. After first half adjustments, the Yoemen held them. There were 5 WO passes that could have easily been interceptions. Several hit Yoe players right in the numbers and could have easily been a turn over. Cameron has been a second quarter team all year. Defense wins championships. White Oak has nothing to hold their heads down for. They have just never been challenged late in the game and Yoemen have that experience and confidence to know that they are in it until the last tick of the clock. WO players will gain that confidence and be a better team for it. Then everyone better watch out.

I did say earlier on this thread, the Yoemen will make a team think they have a win sewed up and then after halftime, they come out with new matchups and they pull ahead. They have done it several times this year.

In my book, a great team makes adjustments, learns from mistakes and never gives up. And that has been the Yoemen most of this year. It kills us as fans. But just know, these two teams were even. There was no "Better or worse team". Cameron played a terrible first half and played much better in the 2nd half. WO played lights out in the first and didnt in the second. That's why there are 4 quarters.

Look forward to watching WO grow from this. Good luck Roughnecks in the future. Great group of kids.

I am not sure this game was decided as much by the adjustments as it was by the number of players who had to go both ways the entire game. I am sure some adjustments were made that made the difference, but it is very hard for any player to play an entire game, especially in the conditions and not get mentally and physically tired. Also you see it so many times when a team is dominating the first half of a game and feel good about what they are doing they do not spend as much time as they need to at halftime making the adjustments themselves. Everyone that knows Yoe knows that they will keep coming and feel like they are never out of a game. However, all of this patting yourselves on the back and not winning and claiming to be the greatest creates a great deal of hatred, just ask us fans from Daingerfield. So Ice Cream Boy you have been playing a lot more years then a lot of the programs in 2a and you have indeed won the most games, however you are really measured as to your winning percentage and championships. Thanks Yoenation for winning gracefully that is also a great measuring tool. Hope to see NB go get the trophy back in District 8.

That was the worse game we had all year. Then we had to play the refs. Still kicked some tale though. Way to go big Yoe. Had the sissy necks crying after the game!

I wasn't at the game but didn't sound like White Oak got there tales kicked at all, and calling White Oak sissy shows very little class, I assume your just a kid and have not grown to full maturity yet...

Wow, still in shock. I refuse to get on here and say if this didn't happen, or if that would have happened kind of stuff! The hard fact is this was the semi-final game, 5 rounds deep. It doesn't really matter what happened or didn't in the first three quarters, what matters most is what the score board says when the final tick is over! The hard truth to swallow is the fact that Cameron Yoe did what champions do in those type of games, they found a way to win. I still can not believe Coach Rhoades made that 4th down call on that spot on the field. That was unbelievable. I must give proper credit to Cameron Yoe, their coaches, those young men who never ever stop believing, it did not matter how bad White Oak smacked them around the 1st half, they just kept fighting and scratching, and got it done. Special teams was huge, I mean huge for Cameron Yoe. They truly have a very sound football program, all phases of the game. Congratulations on the win. True Champions should not only be measured by how bad they beat their opponents, or how many yards they gain or points scored, but by the adversity they face, and the how they respond when the pressure is applied, Like it or not, Cameron Yoe did just that last night.

I do know one thing, Crow sure is hard to swallow! LOL

Congrats Yoe.(still don't like you, but you have earned my RESPECT even more.)

I can't say enough about the Roughnecks, huge accomplishments achieved this year. Please remember what it took to get to this point, learn from the mistakes, build on this experience, and it will be a different story very soon! Look how quick ya'll have come in such a short time. Beat a lot of great teams, and went toe-to-toe with the defending State-Champs, A hell of a season for any program! Ya'll earned it every step of the way, and even though you might not have won the game, you are Winners in my book.

Congrats on a great season!

Yea...

White Oak Didn't Want It...

Cameron Yoe Did...

Y'all are pretty good in Basketball though...

Give credit where credit is due. Thats was a slobber knocker by both teams and a tale of two halves. Yoe did what it took and found a way to come out on top. Its juvenile to blame the refs there were calls both ways that were questionable but what did you expect in HS ball. Congrats to boyh teams on a game that was played exactly ad it was advertised
