TxRangers2023
Guys this is what the issue is: Double digit leads on Kansas City, San Diego, Denver, Green Bay, Detroit. Close it and we would of been running away with the East. Instead, Dallas allowed a team to get hot, have hope and come in. Devonte Holloway should of been starting at outside linebacker and let Sims/Carter duke it out for the other position. Jeff Heath needs to be cut. Dallas needs 2 picks at OL for depth, rest on defense with 2 linemen, and then secondary. I don't care for the order. In 2015, Dallas goes to the draft for a QB like Marcus Mariota. all it would have taken was 1 win against one of the teams you mentioned.
TxRangers2023
oh well. guess i'll be back next year to see what happens. at least they played well tonight. i think we all thought they would get blown out
THSfanatic
I'm not sure the defense can be retooled in a year. Ware has disappeared the last half of the season and despite what the resident Cowboys apologists say I see no way that Hatcher can be resigned. He's gonna get a HUGE contract and certainly don't blame him for going after it. The Cowboys do not have the room to pay it. All the talk about shuffling money and stuff is what got us to this point. It's got the potential for being even worse on the DL. Was listening to the post game show & they were talking about Hatcher making the rounds thanking the fans after the game and making the statement that he is gonna get his money. Announcers sure don't think he's coming back either. Him & Lee were hands down the best defensive players on the field & Lee can't stay healthy. BlueBlazes
Sure hate the team's season, & Orton's big game came to an end in such a fashion. But, it shouldn't have come down to the last game in the first place. They should've had the division sewed up weeks ago, & not had to worry about this one. I doubt they would've made it past the 1st round, but at least they would've gotten the monkey off their backs. Three years in a row of finishing 8~8, & getting knocked outta the playoffs in the last game of the season is a mighty bitter pill to swallow. Sadly, unless some major changes are made from the top down, I don't see next year getting much better.

"According to Elias, the Cowboys five losses by three or fewer points are tied for the most in NFL history by a team to finish 8-8." Jason Garrett's poor game management cost Dallss the playoffs. He should be fired due to his game management skills have not improved at all during his tenure as a head coach.

mellon
^ That's it. Until the fans start hitting Jerry in the pocketbook don't look for any substantial improvement. They lost last night, but we were all entertained.

Wild74
I do think Jerry wants to win and wants to win badly, but he doesn't have a clue how to put a team together, Jimmy Johnson put the 90's team together and after he left Jerry took over and the results are very visable

GOLEE
Jerry will see the 4 games with a point or two loss margin and again think everything is ok. And come back again with the same ole group and again get the same results. Not to mention the long term status of Romo Watching Jerry scream in the booth 2 times at the end of the game should say he has seen enough and clean house. He's afraid to sacrifice a year to do so because he is in the entertainment business and wants 92,000 in his stadium on Sunday This team is a mess and a joke to say the least. I don't see any hope in site with Jerry at the helm and Garrett as coach Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. That's Jerry and his cowboys Look where Philly came from winning 4 games last year. Chip has had a huge influence in their offense and led the NFL in rushing and 2 in points That's what their building on now. Give them a little D and their pretty strong What is Jerry building on What coach keeps his job after 3 years of 8-8.

The difference is the Eagles owner hired Chip Kelly to overhaul the team and make them into a winner while he sits in his box and watches his team improve and win. Jerry has Garrett attached to strings like a puppet to do his bidding. Jerry might as well get rid of Garrett and put on the headset himself. No self respecting top tier coach is going to work for JJ unless it's purely for the money.
andy66
In one of the shots of JJ in his box, he is sitting down and it appears that he picks up a white sheet of paper that looks like a playlist like JG has on the sidelines. Oh please! Jimmy just thought he was good enough to play for Dallas since he coached him in Miami. He played terrible for Dallas and Troy was easily the better pick. The trade was just lucky consequence of a needy New Orleans. Dallas made out great on the trade. Quit trying to make it looked like it was something Jimmy planned. It was no different than all the other trades. Needs were filled. Timing is everything.

You are way off here. Jimmy Johnson obviously thought Steve Walsh was gonna be better than Aikman, and he spent a couple of years repairing his relationship with Troy because of it. He also criticized the Cowboys the year before for drafting Michael Irvin with a 1st round pick. Jimmy & Jerry had great years. Neither has done jack since they parted....and that includes Jimmy underachieving with the the same team he blasted Shula for not taking to the Super Bowl

Is that why Steve only lasted 1 season and 3 games of 1990 with the Cowboys ? If Jimmy had thought that Steve Walsh was that great, he would have had him starting in 1989 and 1990, but that wasn't the case. Jimmy knew Aikman was the guy, otherwise he would have been starting "His guy" from the start.

This is exactly why Walsh was drafted and then soon traded after only 19 games as a Dallas Cowboy which he only started 5 games while Aikman was hurt. Walsh was not Steve Beuerlein, but he was better than Babe Laufenberg. The Saints must have thought highly of Walsh giving up those three draft picks as well. Everyone wants to talk about the Herschel Walker trade, but this helped the Cowboys as well in the 90's.

It's ludicrous to think that he drafted him as an insurance policy. Jerry Jones would not have allowed that. He would have used the pick on other players that were desperately needed at the time. The trade later is the only thing that prevented this from being a total bust. History has since shown that Walsh was a bust.

Steve Walsh still has a better winning percentage in the playoffs than Tony Romo, however. Jimmy knew when he drafted Walsh that he was going to be trade bait, and don't try to re-write history it was talked about as soon as Walsh was drafted : http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1298&dat=19890708&id=SeFLAAAAIBAJ&sjid=e4sDAAAAIBAJ&pg=1395,1192657 .
