onthepond806
Edit: Just went final at 10-0. This Douglass team is kind of like Carlisle last season in that it's got 3 pitchers that could be No. 1s at almost any school. Plus, good bats, championship experience and much more going for them. Looks like they're going to finish the job with the same # of losses (1) that Carlisle had last season. Almost a mirror image. 8-0 is enough when you've given up 30 runs all season and have 18 shutouts. There's no reason nor excuses for it. Plain and simple. When you are playing in the State Championship Semi's and finals. No score is safe until the game is over. At this point of the season you are not taking mercy on anyone. The other team didn't get this far because they are bad, and can put up runs in a hurry. Play "your" ball game they way you have all year until the umpire says "ball game." There is already a mercy run rule if that ain't enough, maybe bowling is your game or some other sport that has a max set score.

I won't comment much on this, but giving up 30 runs all year has nothing to do with this game. What you have done before this given point means nothing. As the quote says, "what you did yesterday, don't mean *anything today." You see Major League Baseball teams give up 8 runs in one inning - very easy for 1 error to turn into 5 BB's and 10 runs at the high school level, especially in the lower classifications. Other than that, congratulations to Douglass! Enjoy this - you are certainly never guaranteed to win anything in sports or in life and are very fortunate to win this State Championship. You've done it all season. Congratulations.
Ramo4
congrats fellow districtmen on a super season and as to the 8 is enough comment.... That would be correct if you were having kids but in a state championship game, you play ball no matter the score until the ump says.. ballgame!! topher805
Congrats Douglass. With just four seniors, looks like they should be a favorite to repeat...
thepit
It will not be as easy as you think. Losing a catcher, first base, pitcher, and a short stop I believe. Westbrook was a good glove at first and he will be hard to replace. Hopefully No More Chemo
DD15
Ram04, would you agree that we have more than 2-3 good fielders?
