The Real Mavfan
For those that are interested in playoff seeding scenarios i will try to be as clear and simple as possible. Like i said before Longview (D1 #1) & Texas High (D1 #2) are locked in. If SS wins they are D2 #1 and Hallsville is D2 #2. If Hallsville wins and SS loses then Hallsville is D2 #1 and Marshall is D2 #2. If both Hallsville loses to Longview AND SS loses to Marshall it is a 3-way tie and goes to point spread. In this case , if Marshall wins by 4 points or less then SS is D2 #1 and Marshall is D2 #2. If Marshall wins by 5-12 points then Marshall is D2 #1 and SS is D2 #2. Lastly if Marshall wins by 13+ points then Marshall is D2 #1 and Hallsville is D2 #2.
THSfanatic
I don't understand how SS continues to rack up passing yards. It's smoke & mirrors. They hardly ever throw the ball down the field. You do see a lot of dumpoffs & screens. Control the QB scrambling & they crumble. But what I've seen in the district the last 6 years is that teams continually drop a bunch in coverage and play loose. I just don't get why teams keep playing them that way......they just keep piling up yards doing it
The Real Mavfan
Hopefully the Marshall coaching staff will pick up on that. I feel like we have a good chance im just nervous as all get out because of the implications of the game.
Mavchamp
We are 1-3 against SS. All 4 games have been blowouts with 1 in our favor and 3 in theirs. Â This is the best defense we've had in the series. But.... Historically we've struggled against passing teams. Esp the screen pass. Â Our best defense is to keep their offense on the sideline. That's how we beat them in 2009. Â Hope the offense is ready. We need to play keep away. Might be the best thing. Â Hope we can do it. Â If Marshall wins we will have the same number of wins in 2014 that we've had 2011-2013 combined. Â At least we've cliched a non losing season after 3 tough ones. Â Making progress. Slowly. LoboFan07
Sulphur Springs is definitely not a passing team this year. Â Their O Line is definitely one of the biggest we've seen this year, but they do those little screen passes out to the side as pretty much their only passing in the game. Â Longview had almost 600 yards offense tonight to put their defense in perspective.
Mavchamp
Using the Lobos as a measuring stick for the rest of the district is almost ridiculous. Lmao.

Greenville
If there were a JV playoffs, we'd be in it. Nice. I know JV wins don't translate to future Varsity performance, but I have a feeling we might be able to do some business in 2015. I'll try to have some graphical enhancements later in the day. Mavchamp
Getting tough to keep this thread alive with so few people around to talk about games. Â The game threads are getting all the attention. Â No matter what happens this coming weekend....it's been a fun season. I've enjoyed it! Â In the next 4 weeks or so I'll start a 15-5A basketball thread. With 8 teams, district play gets started earlier than usual. Â I think the ladies start just before Christmas and the men start right after the first of the year. Â Maybe the rest of the district will have a shot at the district title since Longview isn't (generally) the 300lb Gorilla on the court like they are in football. LOL. LoboFan07
No matter what happens this coming weekend....it's been a fun season. I've enjoyed it! Â Have to say, it's been a frustrating season for sure. We've dominated some games, but we never really knew how much improved we were despite a lot of us thinking they were. Â But Friday definitely made this season worth it. So excited for the Mavs picking up that win. I know how much y'all were craving it. Â Can't wait til next weekend!! The Real Mavfan
Honestly guys if it wasnt for Texas High fumble on the one going in that would have put them up 24-7 on JT and the fumble on the one going in that would have put SS ahead of Ennis late it could have been a 15-5a sweep. LoboFan07
Did you not watch the 2nd half of either game ? Don't think the Tigers would've been able to hold on. But the Wildcats only lost by 5. Â 15-5A put on a good show for themselves. It's definitely not a stretch to say 16-5A had very little respect for any of us. I'm very proud of all four of our squads. THSfanatic
The fumble at the 1 was the difference between a blow-out and a closer loss. Either way it was gonna be a L
