Texas A&M - Texarkana wins Inaugural Soccer Match

TAMU-TXK added college athletics this fall including Women's Soccer. Today they played their first match and beat Texas College in Tyler 3-0.

The Lady Eagles played in the Metroplex last Friday, taking on nationally ranked Weslayan's Lady Rams.

Although the loss of 4-0 does not reflect it, the Lady Eagles came off the pitch knowing that they can hang with good teams. Coach Golas said that they left with a positive feeling, because they were even in many statistical categories, except the scoreboard.

 

Monday, the Lady Eagle traveled to Marshall, and took on the Lady Wildcats. Not discouraged at being down 1-0 at the half, they came back strong against a physical opponent to win 4-2.

Play was even in the first half, mostly in the middle, but A&M controlled more of the second half, and the score reflected that effort.

 

Lady Eagles play again Saturday here in Texarkana at Pleasant Grove Hawk Field at 5:30 pm, hosting Southwest Assembly of God University.

Lady Eagles shut out SWAG 5-0 in Texarkana PG Hawk Stadium.

A&M is now 3-1 on the year.

Around 200 people at the game, great to see the support.

Lady Eagles went to Houston and Brownsville this past weekend, and played through two overtimes in both matches to a tie against Red River Conference opponents.

Impressive for a group of young ladies who have only been together for less than 2 months.
