District 11-4A

Parisian

Recommended Posts

I don't think the coaches/ADs realized that, with an empty companion bi-district (no District 12-A), they would draw a bye to the area round. Coupled with Spring Break, that's way too much time off. That's a shame, too, because the region looks up for grabs.

Thursday's scores:

  • Paris boys 1, Princeton 0
  • Bonham boys 1, North Lamar 1 (Bonham wins SO)
  • Princeton girls 1, Paris 1 (Princeton wins SO in 8 rounds)
  • North Lamar girls 7, Bonham 0

Boys standings: Paris 6, NL 4, Bonham 2, Princeton 0

Girls standings: Princeton 5, Paris 4, NL 3, Bonham 0

Princeton boys were 6th-ranked in preseason TASCO rankings. This is proving to be a very competitive 4A district. Everyone scheduled to play again Friday night to finish the first round (already).

Haven't posted lately due to all the weather delays. Still missing the results of a couple of matches, but in a nutshell:

  • Boys: Paris needs a tie or win at North Lamar Wednesday (last match) to clinch district title outright. It looks like Princeton will be 2nd, NL 3rd, Bonham 4th
  • Girls: Princeton will win it. Paris is at NL Tuesday to decide 2nd, Bonham is 4th.

Paris girls beat North Lamar in shootout last night after a tie in regulation. There's still a couple of matches left, but the girls order is virtually decided: 1. Princeton, 2. Paris, 3. NL, 4. Bonham.

Paris boys play NL tonight. A win or tie clinches 1st.

Bonham dropped all 4 remaining matches (to Princeton & NL, boys & girls), so the final seeding will be:

  • Boys: 1. Paris, 2. Princeton, 3. North Lamar, 4. Bonham
  • Girls: 1. Princeton, 2. Paris, 3. North Lamar, 4. Bonham

This district gets first round bye, opens playoffs next weekend in area round.

Paris boys (winner of 11-4A) play warmup match tonight, 5:30, at Pittsburg (winner of 15-4A). Paris beat Pitt, 3-1, in early season matchup at the Paris tournament. I would expect this to be a pretty close rematch and a good test for the upcoming playoffs.
