Sulphur Springs Vs. Pine Tree: The Wildcats are coming off of a HUGE upset of Hallsville. They have another tough game Tuesday Vs. the upset minded PT Pirates. SS needs a win to keep themselves in sole possession of first place. PT knows a win could set up a three way tie for first place. SS pitching has been outstanding, giving up just 2 runs in 4 games (28 innings). Three games have been shut outs and a powerful Hallsville line up managed only 2 runs Friday night.

Texas High Vs. Marshall: The Tigers are in unfamiliar territory. They avoided an unprecedented (0-4) start with Friday's win over Longview. Meanwhile the Mavericks earned a huge road win with their win over Greenville. Texas High needs a win to get themselves back in the playoff race. Marshall needs a win to keep pace with PT. After back to back road games, Marshall is set to host Texarkana in a critical game. Marshall started (0-2) in district, but has evened their record.

Greenville Vs. Hallsville: The Bobcats are coming off of a stunning loss to Sulpur Springs that knocked them down to second place. They will be looking to right the ship against a Greenville team that has lost 2 in a row after starting (2-0). Both teams are in need of a win. Hallsville, to keep pace with SS, and Greenville to keep pace with Marshall.

Mt. Pleasant Vs. Longview: MP is looking for their first win. Longview is on the cusp of playing themselves out of the playoff picture. A win by the Lobos would keep their playoff hopes alive, a loss would be crippling. MP needs a win to get out of the cellar.

Tuesday will wrap up the first round of district play.

Pine Tree Vs. Sulphur Springs: The Lady cats are looking to keep themselves firmly alone in third place, while PT is on the verge of being eliminated from the playoff chase. SS is also looking to stay within striking distance of MP for the #2 spot.

Marshall Vs. Texas High: This is a huge game for two teams battling for a playoff spot. Marshall is coming off of a 14-4 win over Longview and a 15-5 win over Greenville. Another win will solidiy themselves in the #4 spot and keep them within striking distance of 3rd place SS. Texarkana needs a win to force a tie with Marshall for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Longview Vs. MP: MP needs a win to remain pace for possibly catching Hallsville for the district lead. A loss could drop them down into a tie with SS. Longview needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Hallsville Vs. Greenville: The Lady Cats need a win to remain all alone in first place. Greenville is trying to get out of the district cellar.

TUES BASEBALL SCORES

Hallsville beat Greenville 6-0

Marshall beat Texas High 11-1

Sulphur Springs beat Pine Tree 4-3

Longview beat MP 5-1

BASEBALL STANDINGS

Sulphur Springs (5-0) (8-5)

Hallsville (4-1) (11-3)
Pine Tree (3-2) (5-10-1)
Marshall (3-2) (10-3)

Greenville (2-3) (4-8)

Longview (2-3) (3-7-1)
Texas High (1-4) (?-?)
Mount Pleasant (0-5) (1-12)

Pine Tree Vs. Hallsville (Thurs): Obviously, as a rivalry game, this game will be intense for both. But this game is incredibly important for both. Hallsville needs a win over PT to keep themselves just one game behind SS, whom they trail by one game. A loss could put the Bobcats in a 2 game hole behind the wild cats. Meanwhile, the Pirates know a win could possibly set up s three way tie for second place between themselves, Hallsville, and Marshall. However, a PT loss could drop the Pirates out of third place and into fourth if the Marshall beats MP.

Marshall Vs. Mount Pleasant (Thurs): The Mavs will be doing some scoreboard watching. A win for Marshall could either help them leap-frog PT into the #3 spot with a Hallsville win, or they could find themselves in a three way tie for 2nd with a PT upset of the Bobcats. MP is looking to spoil Marshall's fun as they are looking for their first win in district play.

Texas High Vs. Greenville (Thurs): After opening district at (2-0), the Lions have lost 3 in a row and are clinging to their playoff hopes. A win over Texarkana will keep those aspirations alive. A loss would be devastating for G-ville. Texarkana is in unfamiliar territory as they are only 1 game away from the district cellar. A win by TxH would keep their faint playoff hopes alive, a loss could be one of the nails in thier playoff coffin.

Longview Vs. Sulphur Springs (Fri): The Wildcats find themselves all alone in first place in district 15-5A, and a win over the Lobos would keep them at least a game ahead of the Bobcats. A loss would drop SS back into a virtual tie for first with Hallsville. Meanwhile Longview is still thinking playoffs. A win would keep them alive, only 1 game behind Marshall. A loss however would make it a difficult road for the Lobos to break into the post season.

TUESDAY SOFTBALL SCORES

Marshall beat Texas High 6-3

Sulphur Springs beat PT 13-3

MP beat Longview 14-0

Hallsville beat Greenville 15-0

SOFTBALL STANDINGS

Hallsville (7-0) (19-1)
Mt. Pleasant (6-1) (13-3)
Sulphur Springs (5-2) (11-4)
Marshall (4-3) (5-11)

Longview (3-4) (8-11)

Texas High (2-5) (5-11)

Pine Tree (1-6) (8-8-1)
Greenville (0-7) (3-12)

Hallsville Vs. Pine Tree (Thurs): The Lady Cats need a win to keep themselves all alone in first place. They cling to only a 1 game lead over MP. PT is struggling in distirct play after a strong start to the season. The Lady Bucs are looking for a monster upset in this game.

Greenville Vs. Texas High (Thurs): These teams are playing for pride. The Lady Lions are still winless in district play, while Texas High still has faint playoff aspirations. A win would keep those hopes alive for another week.

Mount Pleasant Vs. Marshall: The brutal non-district schedule for Marshall that included state ranked Carthage, Beckville, and Evangel has paid off as the Lady Mavs find themselves in the thick of the playoff chase. MP needs a win to stay within striking distiance of Hallsville. Marshall would like to stay close to #3 SS, but also maintain a coushin over Longview.

Sulphur Springs Vs. Longview: The Lady Cats are in third place and need a win to keep themselves within striking distance of second place MP and Hallsville. A loss could potentially drop them into a tie with Marshall if the Lady Mavs pull the upset. Longview in the mean time is looking for an upset to keep their playoff chase alive. A win by the Lady Lobos coupled with a Marshall loss to MP could pull Longview into a virtual tie for fourth with Marshall.

Looking back at all the preseason standings on here, nobody expected ss to even make playoffs (baseball) big shocker?

Someone has faith I see! How long do you think they'll keep the streak?

It will be interesting to see how long they can. This district is pretty deep. I obviously didn't think Greenville would be any good, but besides MP, it seems like anyone could surprise you. Their bats should come around by the end of district and their pitching is second to few.

I've been around for quite afew of there games this year, an there #2 starter the senior is very good as well. Good 1-2 punch.. In the case of playoffs I'm interested to see a possiple 3rd starter..

As for hitting, it seems as if they aren't having a problem scoring runs when needed! And they are very very good at bunting from what I've seen

Yes they have a great 1-2 punch. Lots of seniors and like you said they score when needed. Won't have to score a whole lot with the pitching they have, but I figure they will get them going by the end of district which will make them very hard to beat with the pitching they have.

I can't wait to see them in a 3 game series to see the depth in there pitching
