Been doing a little research..... not much out there about PT.

Last time they were in the playoffs was 2002..... they went (5-6) that season.

When was their last WINNING season? Might have to hunt down the box of old DCTF mags from the 90's and drag it out.

muchas gracias. I found that 5-6 on an old defunct site that hadn't been updated in forever.

Think I'm still gonna look up my old mags just to see how the 90's were to them. 2000's have been horrendous. One winning season this millennium thus far? yikes.

The last 35 seasons for PT have been....brutal. Just three winning seasons since 1980 (barring they didn't have spectacular seasons in 88-90). A handful of 5-5 seasons. No playoff wins.

And I was miserable for just THREE bad seasons.

Hate to pile it on.... but I hope theirs continues until next week.

Lord. I don't think that place is fixable.

I knew it was bad. Didn't know it was THAT bad.

For some reason I thought the 90's were kind to PT......wrong......... it looks just like the rest.

1982/1983 were their best seasons..... and they still had no playoff wins.

I have no idea what it was before 1980..... can't find a thing on it.

Their football page (which is actually really nice).... says their playoff record is (3-7). Last district championship was in 1976.

You realize Smoaky has all the records right? Lol

They were better in the 70s and such (district titles etc) but they've never been consistently good year after year after year.

Difference between PT now and then is they use to compete. They didn't get blown out on a weekly basis.

Wednesday article from the MNM: http://www.marshallnewsmessenger.com/news/2015/sep/30/mavs-look-to-slow-down-pirates-passing-game/

I like the way he's telling them NOT to look past PT. No matter what the numbers and stats say.

Gotta take care of PT before we can start thinking about Lobo and Texas High.

One game at a time.

FYI, I don't know what he's talking about in his explanation of why we took over. We didn't even have 100 yards rushing going into halftime up 34-6. That's not what caused things to "snowball" in his words.

I haven't seen the game, but I'm assuming he's referring to the two quick scores by Longview off of Pine Tree turnovers.

The fumbled kickoff lead to a one play TD and a pick 6 for 56 yards is a quick 14 point turnaound on 2 offensive plays.

Not to mention a 52 yard pass for a TD before halftime.

Three touchdowns...... three big plays. 21 "easy points". Not long, grind it out drives.

Sounds textbook snowball to me.

JMHO.

Three scores that didn't involve a single running play in them.

"They're kind of like us last year," Harper said. "Last week they kind of got behind the eight ball and it just started snowballing on them. Longview was able to keep possession and keep their offense off the field because they were able to run the football."

It was 41-6 before we hit 100 yards lol. Obviously in a blow out we're going to run it more but there was no containment of their offense just because we could run,

There was containment because they just plain couldn't move the football against us.
