Greenville
(Minus Longview Lobos, anyway.) Greenville Hallsville Longview Pine Tree Marshall Mount Pleasant Sulphur Springs Texarkana Texas High Looks like we're back for two more years. First time I remember being in a 7-team district. hoopscoach17
Wow, just when you thought you had the UIL figured out they throw you another curve!! Though there are some things good about this district staying together, travel is still an issue, especially for Greenville. Looking at the 2 East Texas districts it seems that the UIL just got lazy and took the easy way out!! The problem with a 7 team district is that your open date will be in the middle of the district schedule. Might even be week 10!! This is really tough on sports that have a double round robin schedule!!
Nacwagons
This district will play the highland park district....17-5a plays Waco/Bryan college St district

supermaroon
Yeah seems to be the uil said just to heck with it. Think its Marshall vs T-High battle for the top spot. Then after that no clue could be interesting to see the battle for 4th seed.
Greenville
Now all we need is to decide on a coach, and to figure out four non-district games. And take out a third mortgage for travel costs for two more years. :)
supermaroon
Yeah true on that one but I really think with the right coach you guys could compete for a playoff spot.
DB123
Definitely don't have favorable match-ups once in the playoffs. The new 15-5A is one heck of a district.
The Real Mavfan
Based on last year and what each team has coming back i would rank them TH, Marshall, Hallsville, MP, PT, Greenville, SS.

hoopscoach17
The number for Marshall is wrong. They turned in less than 1400. Hallsville is the 3rd largest school in the district.
Mavchamp
Marshall turned in 1,401 in October.

supermaroon
Does Mt Pleasant have anything beside the Holloman kid this year on offense and can that defense slow anyone down?

Greenville
I pulled the numbers from the UIL website, their numbers may be off. Been a little while since we weren't the smallest school in a district. But still small enough to avoid HP if we sneak into the playoffs.
Coach Rab
I imagine texas high, hallsville, and Marshall should be in the playoffs. Who knows about 4th... most of these teams are up and down...
supermaroon
The senior class at MP was suppose to be the special group a friend of mine has said so we'll see if the coaching staff get that group going apparently going to be senior heavy year with a massive O-Line. tomlandry
The senior class at MP was suppose to be the special group a friend of mine has said so we'll see if the coaching staff get that group going apparently going to be senior heavy year with a massive O-Line. My hat is off to the UIL. What a great job of maintaining many district rivalries and avoiding a dismal travel arrangement with the aforementioned 9 team district. With the number of athletes graduating from Marshall and Hallsville, and aside from Texas High's assured dominance, this district could lead to some interesting results. Pine Tree/ Mount Pleasant/ and Sulpher Springs are the conversation starters. I did not think my Pirates would perform as well as they did this year. I think Coach Collins demonstrated great coaching and development. I'm thankful we hired him. Despite last year's success, our quarterback is gone, and with no clear starter in waiting, Collins' spread attack will most likely sputter. I do not see us beating Mount Pleasant this year. Their line is monstrous and their running back Holloman is the real deal. If they develop the quarterback position they will be hard to beat. Sulpher Springs reminds me of a major league sports team looking to relocate and start over, except, nobody wants them. With their overall population falling, a limited athlete pool to choose from, and no clear superstar, I think the days of Coach Owen's leading his teams to victory are far gone. As far as the small 3 go, I think the standings finish with Mount Pleasant in the 4th spot for playoffs, Pine Tree close behind, and Sulpher Springs struggling to beat Greenville. Greenville
For what it's worth, SS's bye week will be week 8, or District Week 4. Their (SS) non-district schedule is Sherman week 1, a trip to Orlando, FL for a game in week 2, Paris in week 3, and Whitehouse week 4.
