CanAm Posted February 23, 2016 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I can agree with part of that TexasSt. Yes, there are coaches who have won state championships that aren't great coaches or were in the right place at the right time. But hiring committees aren't looking through applications and pulling out guys to interview who went 2-8, etc. They look for those championships, etc. They aren't going out to watch each guy and see how they coach. And in a lot of places, most of their interviews are basics..how will they will run a program/ be the AD for other sports, discipline, communication with parents, then what their general plan is for offense and defense. They're not talking X's and O's. So true!! Rings mean nothing for the most part. Some of the best have never won a title. Example: Danaher @ CC Callalen. Wins out the wazoo but not a title. It is now down to three, and each remaining coach has been very successful at their current programs and have been there at least the last 4 years.
