Ringside
Not surprised based on the district realignment for next year. Travel will be a challenge à nd just don't really think he wanted to deal with it all. And Frankston football needs a little money invested in it to keep up at the level they are currently on. TexasSt
Or maybe he has a better offer on the table somewhere else.
bignasty
Wow..... Â Not questioning Coach Owens status as a coach. He is one of the good ones in the state. Frankston deserves better than a revolving door. Need consistency in a program to build it up. Need someone who will stay and not jump ship after 1-2 seasons. Blueblood20
I saw this coming. So not only do they need to replace Loper but an AD/Head football coach.

Ringside
With both of them re retiring it could be a great opportunity for someone to come in and build something good. They could be more than just a basketball school.
uniballer
Now that they can add AD to the football job, they can get someone that will stay there for more than a couple of years.
tdJesus
Owens was the AD. The football HC has been the AD for 5 years or so.
TheApprentice11
Hasn't been a revolving door in recent history. Wells 4 years then Nally (Wells OC) for three years. There has been some stability within that program, but before Nally's last year the basketball coach was the AD for more than a decade and the town is a basketball town. Could be a good place but the AD will have to be all sport friendly because just being a football guy is gonna get you ran out of that town. sportsfan122316
It will be revolving door, brutal district and not a lot of talent coming up. Not a lot of football support, new baseball and gym, what did football get?
TheApprentice11
I drive through Frankston some and it looks like a good town to be in so that is attractive. Could be a good place if you find a good younger coach that is willing to stick around. The school needs a Coach Nally, which in my opinion is the best coach they have had, to come and relate with kids and that will bring some stability and some energy to that program. Frankston could be a good football spot but not a great football spot...thump thump thump
dillonpanthers
Frankston does seem to have some appeal living wise. But looks like a tough football job. Especially with the new district. But they won't have any problems filling the job. Lots of coaches out there looking for a shot.

lynyrdskynyrd
Interviews are supposed to be the last week of April. Hire is supposed to be approved at the May 16 board meeting.
dillonpanthers
If Owens is leaving on good terms and just looking to retire again, does he have one of his coordinators that would be ready to take over? Did he bring both coordinators in last year?

sportsfan122316
Interviews this week, heard one is a home town guy that would be good for town and school.
Blueblood20
All boys sports will be down after this year. That senior group has been the better players over the last 3 years. There is some young talent but nothing like the big man that's going to A&M.
32read
Frankston IS a great small town. I graduated there and there are a lot of good people and they have very nice small school facilities. Need to upgrade the football stadium though. I pull for them always being that it is my hometown. However if its true that they had a separate committee to hire a basketball coach that is disappointing. I'm sure the new coach is excellent but that's not the point. This is not the way that people that do things right do them. Like I said its my hometown and I still have parents that live there and pay school taxes and I wish them the best. New AD will have no control in that and that does likely pose a problem. They will either get a very weak, or a very flexible AD doing that. sportsfan122316
Whom ever gets this job, I hope they stick it out for the district. It will be tough next few years in that district. Frankston needs someone that will stay. If they hire someone and he bounces like Owens did, it doesn't look good for the people who make the decisions.
