don't know wat you hmm'm about. I know you don't think it's Rick

Lol, no it's just the "most decorated with results in East Texas". In what? Listing to a few of LV faithful may not think so. I think he a dam good coach. Head and shoulders above us.

Mav lb Christian lovera needs to be a starter from what I saw! He made plays when a starter got hurt. And no I'm not a relative, just liked what I saw. Go to a 3-4 if you have to.This year's lbs are stronger than our dlinemen.

I think King is a good coach as well but I would not say he is "head and shoulders above Holmes. Of all the coaches in ET, Holmes has had best success against him. If that is not what you mean then I miss read you.

All I meant was a compliment to the Man. He has won a ton of games, district championships, been at it a long time, I knew Traylor was gone, so it kind of puts him the man in the area. RIck is a great coach as well, he just hasnt been at it as long as King.

No disrespect to anyone's coach, because theres a bunch of goods ones, but King has alot of wins, district championships, and playoff runs.Just giving the man his due..

True, he is the face of the Lobos. The coach from Carthage has to be there, from what he helped to accomplish at T-High and now Carthage.

It a rivalry game so anything goes but this seems like a miracle if Marshall wins. I would hate to see a upset LOBOS team come to my house. I going to say Marshall keeps it competitive early and Longview pulls away in the 2nd half. I am torn on whom to root for.

Its not a rivalry when one team wins 99% of the time. Essentially marshall never has much more then a punchers chance to beat the lobos. Last year was not much more then the luck of buster Douglas beating mike tyson. Marshall stands a better chance of beating longview if they can suit up chad fox and odel beckham sr and the old coach from thE day !! Throw back to the mavs championship days. Odel at nearly 50 would probably score then the whole mav team this Friday night. Marshall comes into the game mavs and leaves steers. Lobos 45- steers 14

Ricklan Holmes hasn't been on the scene long enough to even be mentioned in the same sentence as John King.

And he's a defensive specialist right? I'd expect JT to play better defense than they do yearly...but they don't.

Just unreal coaching and play calling last year. District game, in a rivalry game, and we stop doing the one thing they couldn't stop.

It happened on Friday against Lufkin too. They couldn't stop us running at all...and of course...pass play is called and Wiley in turn gets swarmed in the backfield and doesn't throw it away and it's get sacked and ends the potential tying touchdown drive.

Along with wasting two timeouts of course.

I have no doubt that King and company are the best coaching staff we've ever had...but some of the decisions just make no sense to me...and ultimately end up costing us games (and it's been that way ever since they got here).

I don't think it's the same as Marshall. I remember us putting y'all in positions were you had to pass it on 2nd or 3rd down. The "they couldn't stop us running at all" statement isn't fully accurate. Y'all only threw it 13-15 times too? It's not like y'all tried to go "SLC" on us. And several of those passes had to be called by King. We made more than a few stops, mostly in the first half. Would've made more in the second half, if the tackling was better. When the Lobos threw it before they had to settle for a field goal, we made a big stop when they were running on 2nd down. We stopped y'all three times inside the five before you scored on 4th down at like the 1. Players were there in the backfield to make plays imo, just didn't. I think we'll clean that stuff up over the next few weeks with coaches that we have on staff now, unlike a few years ago. I don't understand the comments about the secondary either from the lobo team thread. Lobo receivers weren't killing our dbs all night. A few were open, but that was it. Yall may not want to give them credit, but the Pack Defense played pretty good in the first half and at times in the second half too, considering they had a new defensive line and a few other players starting for the first time against a big lobo line. Sorry Mavs for changing the subject too..

You realize what we do right? First half is pound, pound, pound and tire you out...and second half we take control. We did it perfectly on Friday night in Lufkin.

You can call it not tackling, but your tackling was no different than it was in the first half. It was simply running through it. You had 10 guys in the box at most times, and we still scored on every single possession we had in the second half outside of the last one where we were just throwing it up four straight plays. Y'all were trying to take our legs out the entire game, and whoever it was that kept jumping in the first half finally realized it and just ran right through it.

Not sure why I'm even replying to this, because you're going to view things completely different than we are despite watching the exact same game. We had more than a few open every single time we attempted to throw, but Wiley either didn't make a good throw or either started scrambling/panicking right when he saw guys coming at him. The only impressive thing about the Lufkin D in the second half to me was the last FG hold, but that was just as much on Wiley not getting rid of it as the Lufkin D. Even on the 3rd down play, our guy had the first down ball but dropped it.

Meh, end of day, we'll be fine. Lufkin gets a boost of confidence and we're still feeling good about ourselves.

Of the 15 attempts we had Friday night, I'd say that 3 were well covered by LP..and 2 of them were bad calls after we were driving down the field solely running the ball.

The rest of those incompletions were solely on Wiley.

You usually can't tackle well with one arm, especially white and that's what several of our guys tried to do instead of wrap up. Some did try to hit low too, and that obviously didn't work at times. I don't remember us putting 10 guys in the box majority of the time either. However, you're right about one thing, we're going to see things differently. I usually try to give credit to the other teams too, instead of making excuses about broken plays and refs. It is what it is. I think both teams will be fine though, IF they are healthy in November. Especially the Pack, since I think we're the better team THIS season. Good luck to y'all!

How is that an excuse?

Broken plays are apart of the game and still things you have to stop. Jett Duffey beat us on broken play after broken play after broken play all game last season (and two years ago). Saying Kordell did the same on every touchdown drive on Friday, other than the touchdown after the KO return, isn't an excuse..it's a statement that our defense had the original play well defended. Your play maker made a play after it, simple as that.

Check yourself on that last year comment... Marshall had some great players that made plays in that game. Marshall played a great game, and had some fortune go their way, but it wasn't just a Royal Flush draw for the Mavs. They came out and they continually punched Longview's defense in the mouth all night.

I love how so many people on this site immediately start accusing others of making excuses if you post anything other than completely praising their team.
